  1. 21. Neuropeptides and neurotrophins in arthritis : studies on the human and mouse knee joint

    Author : Ola Grimsholm; Sture Forsgren; Solbritt Rantapää-Dahlqvist; Elvar Theodorsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropeptides; neurotrophins; bombesin gastrin-releasing peptide; substance P; brain-derived neurotrophic factor; synovial tissue; knee joint; rheumatoid arthritis; Anatomy; Anatomi;

    Abstract : Neuropeptides, such as substance P (SP) and bombesin/gastrin-releasing peptide (BN/GRP), and neurotrophins are involved in neuro-immunomodulatory processes and have marked trophic, growth-promoting and inflammation-modulating properties. The impact of these modulators in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is, however, unclear. READ MORE

  3. 23. Monitoring and control of laser beam butt joint welding

    Author : Morgan Nilsen; Anna-Karin Christiansson; Fredrik Sikström; Michael Schmidt; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser beam welding; Optical sensors; Joint tracking; Varying gap; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Laser beam welding is one important technology in automated production. It has several advantages, such as the ability to produce deep and narrow welds giving limited heat induced deformations. The laser beam welding process is however sensitive to how the high power laser is positioned with regards to the joint position. READ MORE

  4. 24. The Cognitive Basis of Joint Probability Judgments : Processes, Ecology, and Adaption

    Author : Joakim Sundh; Peter Juslin; Jörg Rieskamp; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Judgment and decision-making; Joint probability judgment; Probability theory; Ecological rationality; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : When navigating an uncertain world, it is often necessary to judge the probability of a conjunction of events, that is, their joint probability. The subject of this thesis is how people infer joint probabilities from probabilities of individual events. READ MORE

  5. 25. Pregnancy-related low back and pelvic girdle pain : with reference to joint hypermobility and treatment

    Author : Anne Lindgren; Per Kristiansson; Thomas Torstensson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Finger joint laxity; Back pain; Pelvic girdle pain; Pregnancy; Postpartum; Injection; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : Objectives: To explore if joint mobility, as a measure of connective tissue quality, could be a predictor for pregnancy-related low back pain after pregnancy and to evaluate local corticosteroid injection treatment in women with persistent pelvic girdle pain long after childbirth.Material and methods: To investigate joint mobility in relation to pain, 200 women were examined repeatedly from early pregnancy until three months after delivery.
