  1. 1. Case-control studies on risk factors for myeloid leukemias and myelodysplastic syndromes

    Author : Jonas Björk; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epidemiologic methods; bias epidemiology ; attributable fraction; smoking; hobbies; occupational exposure; chromosome aberrations; epidemiology; cytogenetic; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Abstract : Case-control studies comprising telephone interviews for 333 cases of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), 226 cases of Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+ CML), 330 cases of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and matched controls were conducted. Information had to be obtained from next-of-kin much more often for cases (85%) than for controls (18%). READ MORE

  2. 2. Quantum error correction

    Author : Jonas Almlöf; Gunnar Björk; Marcin Swillo; Jan-Åke Larsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Quantum error correction is the art of protecting quantum states from the detrimental influence from the environment. To master this art, one must understand how the system interacts with the environment and gives rise to a full set of quantum phenomena, many of which have no correspondence in classical information theory. 3. 3. Quantum error correction

    Author : Jonas Almlöf; Gunnar Björk; Jan-Åke Larsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum error correction; dissipative channel; decoherence; fidelity; mutual information;

    Abstract : This thesis intends to familiarise the reader with quantum error correction, and also show some relations to the well known concept of information - and the lesser known quantum information. Quantum information describes how information can be carried by quantum states, and how interaction with other systems give rise to a full set of quantum phenomena, many of which have no correspondence in classical information theory. 4. 4. A Computational Venture into the Realm of Laminated Borides and their 2D Derivatives

    Author : Pernilla Helmer; Johanna Rosén; Martin Dahlqvist; Jonas Björk; Biplab Sanyal; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Daily life in modern society is highly dependent on many different materials and techniques for manipulating them, and the technological forefront is constantly pushed further by new discoveries. Hence, materials science is a very important field of research. READ MORE

  5. 5. Venturing Further into the Field of 2D Materials and their Laminated Parent Phases

    Author : Pernilla Helmer; Johanna Rosén; Jonas Björk; Martin Dahlqvist; Hannu-Pekka Komsa; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Density Functional Theory; Bonding analysis; Themodynamical stability; Electronic band structure; Computational screening; Dynamical stability; Nanolaminate; MXene; 2D material; Boridene; Chemical exfoliation; Selective etching;

    Abstract : The field of 2D materials is a relatively young and rapidly growing area within materials science, which is concerned with atomically thin states of matter. Because of their intrinsic 2D morphology, 2D materials have exceptionally high surface to weight or surface to volume ratio. READ MORE
