  1. 1. Nonlinear dynamics of Josephson Junction Chains and Superconducting Resonators

    Author : Adem Ergül; David B. Haviland; Per Delsing; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Josephson Junction; SQUID; Superconducting Resonators;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the results of the experimental studies on two kindof Superconducting circuits: one-dimensional Josephson junction chains andsuperconducting coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators. One-dimensionalJosephson junction chains are constructed by connecting many Superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) in series. READ MORE

  2. 2. Magnesium Diboride (MgB2) and Ca-doped YBa2Cu3O7-? : Thin Films and Devices. Fabrication and Characterization

    Author : Anayesu Malisa; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ca-doped YBa2Cu3O7-?; MgB2; bicrystal; superconductor; nanobridge; thin film; Josephson effect; Josephson junction;

    Abstract : Magnesium diboride (MgB2) is a superconductor with an exceptionally high transition temperature, Tc, of 39 K. This work describes deposition of high quality and superconducting films of MgB2 for electronic applications. Experiments on Ca-doped YBa2Cu3O7-? films and fabrication of bicrystal Josephson junctions are also described. READ MORE

  3. 3. d-wave Josephson Junctions

    Author : Tobias Lindström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Josephson junctions; high-temperature superconductivity; Andreev states;

    Abstract : The properties of d-wave YBCO Josephson junctions and dc-SQUIDs with high misorientation angles have beenstudied experimentally .The predominant d-wave symmetry of the pairing wavefunction in high-Tc superconductors has, to a large extent, beena hinderance in applications, but it also makes it possible to fabricate devices with novel properties that may be suitablefor applications in the quantum regime; one particulary interesting property is a strong second harmonic component in the current-phase relation ofjunctions with the electrodes oriented in a node-lobe arrangement; so-called 0-45 junctions. Abstract : Today’s digitalized society relies on the advancement of silicon (Si) Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technology, but the limitations of down-scaling and the rapidly increasing demand for added functionality that is not easily achieved in Si, have pushed efforts to monolithically 3D-integrate III-V devices above the Si-CMOS technology. In addition, the demand for increased computational power and handling of vast amounts of data is rapidly increasing. READ MORE

  5. 5. Superradiant THz wave emission from arrays of Josephson junctions

    Author : Ievgenii Borodianskyi; Vladimir Krasnov; Yury Shukrinov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Josephson junction; Superconductor; ThZ emission; high-Tc; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : High-power, continuous-wave, compact and tunable THz sources are needed for a large variety of applications. Development of power-efficient sources of electromagnetic radiation in the 0.1-10 THz range is a difficult technological problem, known as the “THz gap. READ MORE
