  1. 1. Just-in-Time Arrival in Port Calls : Potential and Implementation

    Author : Abdalla Mubder; Anna Fredriksson; Joakim Kalantari; Niklas Arvidsson; Linda Styhre; Abd Alla Ali Mubder Mubder; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maritime transportation; Port call process; Just-in-Time arrival; Coordination and information sharing; Port community system;

    Abstract : There is an urgent need to reduce emissions from maritime transportation to meet environmental targets set by international organizations and governments. To reduce emissions from maritime transportation, technical, market-based, and operational measures can be used. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optimization of Just-in-Time Sequencing Problems and Supply Chain Logistics

    Author : Gyan Thapa; Sergei Silvestrov; Anatoliy Malyarenko; George Fodor; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Just-in-time; JIT sequencing; apportionment; product rate variation; output rate variation; algorithms; heuristics; supply chain; logistics; queueing; non-linear integer programming; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a comprehensive and comparative progress in sequencing approaches of mixed-model just-in-time (JIT) sequencing problem together with discrete apportioment problem (DAP). The goal of JIT sequencing problem (JITSP) is to keep the rate of usage of parts as constant as possible along the assembly lines, and the goal of DAP is to divide a given integer number of delegates proportionally among the states or the parties according to their population or votes. 3. 3. Just-in-Time Models with Applications to Dynamical Systems

    Author : Anders Stenman; Lennart Ljung; Fredrik Gustafsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : System identification deals with the problem of estimating models of dynamical systems given observations from the systems. In this thesis we focus on the nonlinear modeling problem, and, in particular, on the situation that occurs when a very large amount of data is available. READ MORE

  4. 4. Proximity Matters? Geographical aspects of changing strategies in automotive subcontracting relationships:the case of domestic suppliers to Volvo Troslanda assembly plant

    Author : Anders Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : automotive-industry; Hydro-Raufoss Automotive; just-in-time; location; proximity;

    Abstract : This study analyses the significance of geographical proximity in the restructuring process of a domestic subcontractor system in the Swedish automotive industry, using the Volvo Torslanda assembly plant as a case. The focus is on: i) the organisation of buyer-subcontractor relationships, ii) time-related delivery strategies, iii) the significance of geographical proximity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Valuation of goods transportation characteristics : A study of a sparsely populated area

    Author : Kerstin Westin; Einar Holm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Just-In-Time; Goods transportation; Sparsely populated areas; Social and Economic Geography; kulturgeografi;

    Abstract : This study describes how consumers and providers of transportation services in a sparsely populated area valuate different transportation characteristics and estimates how these valuations might affect the total goods flows and the flows on individual Origin-Destination links. It also tests Stated-Preference methods as a tool for valuating transportation characteristics. READ MORE
