  1. 1. Novel Pincer Complex-Catalyzed Transformations : Including Asymmetric Catalysis

    Author : Juhanes Aydin; Kálmán J. Szabó; Oleg V. Ozerov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pincer; palladium; catalysis; chiral; asymmetric; palladium IV; allylation; aldol; aminoacid; C-H functionalization; cross-coupling; homoallylic; heck reaction; tridentate ligand; Chemistry; Kemi; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on the development of new pincer complex-catalyzed transformations. Optimization of the catalytic properties (fine-tuning) was directed to increase the catalytic activity as well as the chemo-, stereo- and enantioselectivity of the complexes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of new Fluorination Methods Directed to Fluorine-18 Labelling

    Author : Miguel Ángel Cortés González; Kálmán J. Szabó; Guosheng Liu; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluorine; fluorine-18; late-stage; labelling; nucleophilic; electrophilic; fluorination; positron emision tomography; PET; hypervalent iodine; benziodoxole; metal-free; DBU; copper; palladium; rhodium; carbene; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the development of new fluorination reactions and their application to fluorine-18 labelling. Fluorine-18 labelled compounds are employed as tracers in Positron Emission Tomography (PET), which is a powerful non-invasive imaging method in medical diagnostics. READ MORE

  3. 3. Asymmetric Hydrogenations of Imines, Vinyl Fluorides, Enol Phosphinates and Other Alkenes Using N,P-Ligated Iridium Complexes

    Author : Jarle Sidney Diesen; Pher G. Andersson; Kálmán J. Szabó; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Catalysis; Asymmetric; Hydrogenations; Reductions; Alkenes; Imines; Vinyl fluorides; Enolphosphinates; Transition metal; Complexes; Iridium; Organisk kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The research described in this thesis is directed toward the efficient, enantioselective synthesis of chiral products that have useful functionality. This goal was pursued through catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation, a reaction class that selectively introduces one or two stereocenters into a molecule in an atom-efficient step. READ MORE

  4. 4. Novel Applications of Benziodoxole Reagents in the Synthesis of Organofluorine Compounds

    Author : Nadia O. Ilchenko; Kálmán J. Szabó; Cristina Nevado; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; trifluoromethylation; hypervalent iodine; Togni reagent; difluorination; iodofluorination; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns method development of new synthetic routes by applying electrophilic hypervalent iodine reagents, such as trifluoromethyl-benziodoxole (Togni reagent) and fluoro-benziodoxole. The first project involved the addition of an oxygen moiety and trifluoromethyl group across double and triple bonds (both groups derived from the hypervalent iodine reagent). READ MORE

  5. 5. Employment of Palladium Pincer Complex Catalysts and Lewis Acids for Synthesis and Transformation of Organometallic Compounds

    Author : Johan Kjellgren; Kálmán J. Szabó; Gerard van Koten; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is mainly focused on the development of new palladium catalyzed transformations using so-called “pincer” complexes. These complexes were applied as catalysts in two important areas of organometallic chemistry: substitution of propargylic substrates by dimetallic reagents; and allylation of aldehydes and imines by allylstannanes.
