  1. 1. Genetic Analyses of Multiple Sclerosis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus : From Single Markers to Genome-Wide Data

    Author : Johanna K Sandling; Ann-Christine Syvänen; Lovisa Lovmar; Joseph Terwilliger; Javier Martín Ibáñez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Systemic lupus erythematosus; Multiple Sclerosis; Association study; Type I interferon system; Single nucleotide polymorphism; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : In autoimmune diseases an individual’s immune system becomes targeted at the body’s own healthy cells. The aim of this thesis was to identify genetic risk factors for the two autoimmune diseases multiple sclerosis (MS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). READ MORE

  2. 2. Synthesis and Characterization of 2D Nanocrystals and Thin Films of Transition Metal Carbides (MXenes)

    Author : Joseph Halim; Michael Barsoum; Lars Hultman; Yury Gogotsi; Per Eklund; Johanna Rosén; Jun Lu; Martin Magnuson; Ulf Jansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Two dimensional (2D) materials have received growing interest because of their unique properties compared to their bulk counterparts. Graphene is the archetype 2D solid, but other materials beyond graphene, such as MoS2 and BN have become potential candidates for several applications. READ MORE

  3. 3. Synthesis and transport properties of 2D transition metal carbides (MXenes)

    Author : Joseph Halim; Michel Barsoum; Lars Hultman; Per Eklund; Johanna Rosén; Martin Magnuson; Jun Lu; Christina Birkel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Since the isolation and characterization of graphene, there has been a growing interest in 2D materials owing to their unique properties compared to their 3D counterparts. Recently, a family of 2D materials of early transition metal carbides and nitrides, labelled MXenes, has been discovered (Ti2CTz, Ti3C2Tz, Mo2TiC2Tz, Ti3CNTz, Ta4C3Tz, Ti4N3Tz among many others), where T stands for surface-terminating groups (O, OH, and F). 4. 4. From quality control to neurodegeneration : regulation of autophagy and the DNA damage response by ubiquitin-modifying enzymes

    Author : Laura K Herzog Croona; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Protein homeostasis and genome integrity are safeguarded by a variety of cellular quality control pathways. While protein quality is controlled by a delicate balance between protein biosynthesis, folding and degradation, the DNA is subject to tightly regulated surveillance processes that sense, signal and repair DNA lesions. 5. 5. His Name Immortal : Five Studies in the Sacred Music of Johann Baptist Wanhal

    Author : Halvor K. Hosar; Allan Badley; W. Dean Sutcliffe; Alan Maddox; Jane Hettrick; Nancy November; The University of Auckland; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES;

    Abstract : This thesis comprises five studies of the sacred music of Johann Baptist Wanhal (1739–1813), and his masses in particular. A review of the historical records reveals that his sacred music was highly regarded by those who knew it – without the caveats that were sometimes attached to his secular music – and that a number of details in his biography need to be revised, the most important of which concern the likely date of his move to Vienna and the consequences this has on the chronology of his early compositions.
