    Abstract : There are many examples of complex networks in science. It can be genetic regulation in living cells, computers on the Internet, or social and economic networks. In this context, Boolean networks provide simplistic models that are relatively easy to handle using computer simulations and mathematical methods. READ MORE

  2. 2. Prosody in Swedish Children with Language Impairment. Perceptual, Acoustic and Interactional Aspects

    Author : Christina Samuelsson; foniatri och audiologi Logopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen; audiology; Otorhinolaryngology; classification; acoustic evaluation; prosody; perceptual evaluations; language impairment;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to explore prosodic problems in Swedish children with language impairment (LI). In the first study, 29 children with LI participated. They were assessed with an assessment procedure for prosody at the word, phrase and discourse levels, developed within this thesis. READ MORE

    Author : Karl Samuelsson; Stephan Barthel; S. Anders Brandt; Dagmar Haase; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; subjective well-being; affordances; social-ecological urbanism; urban resilience; geographic information system; depression; densification; complex adaptive system; spatial planning; green-blue infrastructure; subjektivt välbefinnande; affordance; social-ekologisk stadsbyggnad; urban resiliens; geografiska informationssystem; depression; förtätning; komplexa adaptiva system; grön infrastruktur; Hållbar stadsutveckling; Sustainable Urban Development;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the need for urban landscapes that provide resilient contributions to inhabitants’ well-being while also limiting impacts on the Earth system. It aims to (1) advance a nuanced understanding of how urban environments relate to urban dwellers’ well-being, and (2) formulate guidelines for planning that supports urban dwellers’ well-being and align with global sustainability. 4. 4. Visuospatial inattention and processing speed : Predictors of long-term outcome and patterns of change after ischemic stroke

    Author : Joel Gerafi; Hans Samuelsson; Tom Manly; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Visuospatial inattention; language impairment; long-term functional outcome; ischemic stroke; neglect; aphasia; lateralized inattention; processing speed; Consciousness and Cognitive Neuroscience; Kognitiv neurovetenskap och filosofi; visuospatial inattention; language impairment; long-term functional outcome; ischemic stroke; neglect; aphasia; lateralized inattention; processing speed;

    Abstract : Impairments of visuospatial attention, language, and processing speed (PS) are common early after stroke and have been associated with unfavorable short-term functional outcomes but little is known about this relationship in the long-term. This thesis investigates 1) the potential importance of visuospatial inattention (VSI) and language impairments (LI) as predictors of functional outcomes 7 years after an ischemic stroke (studies I-II) and 2) presence of lateralized inattention 7 years after stroke and potential predictors of this phenomenon (study III). 5. 5. Investigation of vanadium-containing oxide systems : CALPHAD and experiments

    Author : Yang Yang; Malin Selleby; Caisa Samuelsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Calphad; thermodynamic modelling; compound energy formalism; evaporation kinetics; activation energy; TGA; activity;

    Abstract : Fundamental studies on thermodynamic properties of vanadium-containing oxides systems are essential to understand practical vanadium metallurgical process. The CALPHAD technique is here applied to the thermodynamic modelling of the V-O, Ca-V-O and Ti-V-O systems. The compound energy formalism is used for all the solution phases. READ MORE
