  1. 6. Microscopy of high temperature oxidation of iron and some stainless steels

    Author : Torbjörn Jonsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; water vapour; sulphur dioxide; FIB; X20; stainless steel; 353MA; EDX; KCl; FIB SEM; SEM; microstructure; TEM; iron; High-temperature oxidation; in-situ ESEM;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the high temperature oxidation of iron and some stainless steels. The oxide scales, as well as the subjacent metal, were investigated using a range of electron and ion microscopy techniques, including SEM, TEM, EDX and FIB. The aim was to link the microstructural observations to the oxidation mechanisms of the materials. READ MORE

  2. 7. The High Temperature Corrosion of Alloy Sanicro 28

    Author : Carolina Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alkali induced corrosion; chromate formation; Sanicro 28; oxidation of stainless steel; KCl induced corrosion;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the influence of potassium chloride in solid and gaseous form on the oxidation of alloy Sanicro 28 (35Fe27Cr31Ni). KCl induced corrosion of chromia forming alloys is important e.g. in fireside corrosion in biomass and waste fired power plants. READ MORE

  3. 8. High Temperature Corrosion of Stainless Steels - The Effects of Chloride Salts and SO2(g)

    Author : Sofia Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : AbstractThe high corrosion rate of superheaters in waste- and biomass- fired plants is often linked to the presence of alkali chlorides. One way to mitigate the corrosion is to replace the superheater material with more corrosion- resistant materials. Another way is to change the corrosive environment by introducing fuel additives. 4. 9. High Temperature Corrosion of Some Stainless Steels

    Author : Carolina Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxidation of stainless steel; alkali induced corrosion; KCl induced corrosion; Sanicro 28; chromate formation;

    Abstract : The high temperature corrosion of the alloy Sanicro 28 (35Fe27Cr31Ni) is addressed in this thesis. The influence of water vapour and two potassium-containing salts was investigated. In addition, three other alloys were studied. Polished steel coupons were isothermally exposed in tube furnaces at 600–800°C in 5% O2 and in 5% O2 + 40% H2O. READ MORE

  5. 10. Assessment of anti-diabetic effect of Vietnamese herbal drugs

    Author : Nguyen Khanh Hoa; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : G-protein; type 2 diabetes; phanoside; antidiabetic plant; hypoglycemic agent; insulin secretion; pancreatic islets; Gynostemma pentaphyllum; Anemarrhena asphodeloides; Angiopteris evecta;

    Abstract : The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus is increasing in Vietnam as well as in other developing countries (China, Indian subcontinent, and Africa). Searching for hypoglycemic agents with origin from domestic herbals was considered as a useful way to find novel therapy of the disease. After treatment i.p. READ MORE
