  1. 6. Fundamental studies on the high temperature corrosion mechanisms of a 22Cr austenitic stainless steel in environments related to oxy-fuel combustion

    Author : Luciana Intiso; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; EDX; TEM; KCl; Na2SO4; SEM; FIB; high temperature oxidation; sulphur dioxide; carbon dioxide; GI-XRD; stainless steels; water vapour; GDOES; t-EBSD;

    Abstract : This thesis concern the high temperature corrosion mechanisms of stainless steels, with focus on a 22 wt.% Cr FeNiCr alloy (Sanicro 25), in environments related to oxy-fuel combustion, which is a promising technology that can provide enhanced CO2 recovery and sequestration from power plants by using post-combustion capture. Abstract : The thesis deals with high temperature corrosion behavior of some selective stainless steels and Ni-base alloys with applications in power generation technologies, e.g. boilers fired by biomass and waste. READ MORE

  3. 8. Alkali Induced Corrosion of 304L, The Influence of Potassium Salts and Water Vapour

    Author : Jesper Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 304L; Alkali; Breakaway Corrosion; KCl; Oxidation; Deposit;

    Abstract : This work investigates the influence of alkali salts on the oxidation of304-type (Fe18Cr10Ni) austenitic stainless steel in laboratory and fieldexposures. Stainless steel coupons were exposed isothermally inlaboratory furnaces at 400-600 °C in 5% O2 and 5% O2 + 40% H2O.Thermobalance exposures were also performed. READ MORE

    Abstract : Many widespread diseases, such as diabetes, various types of cancer, and aggressive versions of influenza, are treated or prevented with biopharmaceuticals. Biopharmaceuticals are drugs that are based on proteins, peptides, antibodies, attenuated viruses (vaccines), and other biomolecules that are synthesized predominately in bacteria, yeast, and mammalian cells. 5. 10. Microscopy of high temperature oxidation of iron and some stainless steels

    Author : Torbjörn Jonsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; water vapour; sulphur dioxide; FIB; X20; stainless steel; 353MA; EDX; KCl; FIB SEM; SEM; microstructure; TEM; iron; High-temperature oxidation; in-situ ESEM;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the high temperature oxidation of iron and some stainless steels. The oxide scales, as well as the subjacent metal, were investigated using a range of electron and ion microscopy techniques, including SEM, TEM, EDX and FIB. The aim was to link the microstructural observations to the oxidation mechanisms of the materials. READ MORE
