1. Space in motion : the art of activating space in-between
Abstract : As a contribution to the emerging field of practice-based research in the arts, this thesis aims to activate space, experience and the concept in-between. As the in-between cannot be defined ahead of the rhythmic process it carries out and of which it is a part – a rhythm inherent in the city itself and in knowledge production – it is necessary to produce rhythmic relations between bodies, sites and concepts. 3. A co-simulation based framework for the analysis of integrated urban energy systems : Lessons from a Swedish case study
Abstract : As major responsible for CO2 emissions, the energy sector is urgently called to take action against climatechange. The integration of renewable energy resources is a solution that, however, comes with a challenge. In fact, renewables are often variable, unpredictable and distributed. READ MORE

4. Polyelectrolyte complexes : their preparation, adsorption behaviour and effect on paper properties
Abstract : In this work, the formation of polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) has been studied using a jet mixing method not previously used for mixing polyelectrolytes. The PECs were formed from two weak polyelectrolytes, i.e. READ MORE

5. Porous Cellulose Materials from Nano Fibrillated Cellulose
Abstract : In the first part of this work a novel type of low-density, sponge-like material for the separation of mixtures of oil and water has been prepared by vapour deposition of hydrophobic silanes on ultra-porous nanocellulose aerogels. To achieve this, a highly porous (> 99 %) nanocellulose aerogel with high structural flexibility and robustness is first formed by freeze-drying an aqueous dispersion of the nanocellulose. READ MORE
