  1. 11. Nonlinear optics in KTiOPO4 for spectral management of ultra-short pulses in the near- and mid-IR

    Author : Anne-Lise Viotti; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Fredrik Laurell; Paulina Kuo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nonlinear optics; Ferroelectrics; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the possibilities of controlling nonlinear optical interactions in ferroelectric materials for bandwidth tailoring of ultrashort pulses in the pico- and femto-second range. The control is achieved through quasi-phase matching, which is based on alternating the material’s spontaneous polarization into different domains. READ MORE

  2. 12. Domain engineering in KTiOPO4

    Author : Carlota Canalias; Fredrik Laurell; Benoît Boulanger; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quasi-phase matching; KTiOPO4; ferroelectric domains; atomic force microscopy; periodic electric field poling; polarization switching; second harmonic generation; Optical physics; Optisk fysik;

    Abstract : Ferroelectric crystals are commonly used in nonlinear optics for frequency conversion of laser radiation. The quasi-phase matching (QPM) approach uses a periodically modulated nonlinearity that can be achieved by periodically inverting domains in ferroelectric crystals and allows versatile and efficient frequency conversion in the whole transparency region of the material. 3. 13. Studies on Domain Wall Properties andDynamics in KTiOPO4 and Rb-doped KTiOPO4

    Author : Gustav Lindgren; Carlota Canalias; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : KTiOPO4 (KTP) and Rb-doped KTP (RKTP) are two of the most attractive nonlinear opticalmaterials for engineering of periodically poled domain structures, commonly used as frequencyconversiondevices for laser radiation via the quasi-phase matching (QPM) technique. Thesematerials have excellent non-linearity, wide transparency windows and high resistance to opticaldamage. READ MORE

  4. 14. Nanosecond optical parametric oscillators and amplifiers based on periodically poled KTiOPO4

    Author : Jonas Hellström; KTH; []
    Keywords : optical parametric oscillators; optica parametric amplifiers; quasi-phasematching; KTiOPO4; nonlinear optics; frequency conversion; periodic electric field poling; ferroelectrics; high-order second harmonic generation; electro-optic effect;

    Abstract : Optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) and optical parametricamplifiers (OPAs) constitute a class of optical frequencyconverting devices that have many possible applications, e.g.in range finding, molecular spectroscopy and medicine. READ MORE

  5. 15. Quasi-Phasematched nonlinear processes in KTiOPO4 isomorphs

    Author : Anna Fragemann; KTH; []
    Keywords : nonlinear optics; optical parametric oscillator; optical parametric amplifier; KTiOPO4; RbTiOPO4; quasi-phasematched; electric field poling;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the use of nonlinear crystals from theKTiOPO4(KTP) family with the aim to extend the possibleapplications for laser sources and to gain more knowledge aboutthe material’s benefits and limits. The work focussed onoptical parametric oscillators (OPOs) and optical parametricamplifiers (OPAs), which employ second order nonlinearprocesses. READ MORE
