  1. 1. On some sparsity related problems and the randomized Kaczmarz algorithm

    Author : Liang Dai; Kristiaan Pelckmans; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Signal Processing; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot signalbehandling;

    Abstract : This thesis studies several problems related to recovery and estimation. Specifically, these problems are about sparsity and low-rankness, and the randomized Kaczmarz algorithm. This thesis includes four papers referred to as Paper A, Paper B, Paper C, and Paper D. READ MORE

  2. 2. Algebraic Reconstruction Methods

    Author : Touraj Nikazad; Tommy Elfving; Constantin Popa; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; iterative methods; image reconstruction; ART; Cimmino; Kaczmarz; Landweber; sequential iteration; simultaneous iteration; block iteration; semi-convergence; relaxation parameters; stopping rules; discrepancy principle; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : Ill-posed sets of linear equations typically arise when discretizing certain types of integral transforms. A well known example is image reconstruction, which can be modeled using the Radon transform. After expanding the solution into a finite series of basis functions a large, sparse and ill-conditioned linear system occurs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Identification using Convexification and Recursion

    Author : Liang Dai; Thomas Schön; Magnus Jansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signal processing; System identification; Convex optimization; Recursive Bayesian method; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot signalbehandling; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Signal Processing;

    Abstract : System identification studies how to construct mathematical models for dynamical systems from the input and output data, which finds applications in many scenarios, such as predicting future output of the system or building model based controllers for regulating the output the system.Among many other methods, convex optimization is becoming an increasingly useful tool for solving system identification problems.
