  1. 1. Improved techniques for CE-MALDI-MS off-line coupling and MALDI-MS analysis of primarily hydrophobic proteins and peptides

    Author : Johan Jacksén; Åsa Emmer; Anna Karin/Minna Borg Karlsson/Hakkarainen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Capillary electrophoresis; Hydrophobic peptides; Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Mass Spectrometry; Prestructured target; Off-line interface; Silicon microcanal; Matrix; Protein cleavage digestion.; Kapillärelektrofores; Hydrofoba peptider; Matris-assisterad laserdesorptions-joniserings-masspektrometri; Strukturbelagd provplatta; Off-line interface; Mikrokanal i kisel; Matris; Proteinklyvning -spjälkning.; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Due to the hydrophobic nature of integral membrane proteins (IMP) they give rise to several difficulties concerning handling and analysis, which is not the case for the most water soluble proteins. New analysis methods are needed, where the insolubility problems of the hydrophobic proteins due to aggregation and adhesion are tackled. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tools for applied soft ionization mass spectrometry

    Author : Joakim Romson; Åsa Emmer; Peter Dinér; Steven Wilson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; Electrospray ionization; Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization; Mass accuracy; Mass shifts; Ion trap; Capillary electrophoresis; Sample concentration; Masspektrometri; Elektrospray-jonisering; Matrisassisterad laser desorbtion jonisering; Mass-exakthet; Masskift; Jonfälla; Kapillärelektrofores; Provkoncentration; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract :  Mass spectrometry (MS) is an important analytical tool. Its most importantadvantages are sensitivity, resolution, and accurate and precise m/zmeasurements. To get the best results from an instrument, the user musthave knowledge of its limitation and requirements. READ MORE

  3. 3. Sensitivity and selectivity studies in capillary electrophoresis

    Author : Maria Petersson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; peptides; dansyl amino acids; imaging detection; cyclodextrins; enantiomer separation; acoustic levitation; solid-phase extraction; preconcentration; capillary electrophoresis; micellar electrokinetic chromatography; drugs; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis is characterised by high separation efficiency, applicability to a wide range of compounds, small sample and solvent consumption and simple instrumentation. To improve sensitivity using on-line absorbance detectors, which are hampered by the short optical path length, sample volumes in the microlitre range were concentrated to nanolitre volumes either off-line or on-line. 4. 4. Analysis of proteins related toautoimmune and inflammatorydiseases with focus on newenrichment methodologies and MALDI-TOF MS

    Author : Yuye Zhou; Åsa Emmer; Margret Thorsteinsdottir; KTH; []
    Keywords : Protein; Glycopeptide; IgG; Osteopontin; Enrichment; Digestion; Separation; Microchip; MALDI-TOF MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Proteins have been widely studied in biological sample analysis due to the association with diseases. In the present project, method and technique development was carried out on the analysis of two proteins, immunoglobulin G (IgG) and osteopontin (OPN). READ MORE
