1. The use of self-aligned Ti silicide in integrated Si technology
Abstract : The performance and cost efficiency of integrated circuits(IC) are constantly improved by a miniaturization of theindividual device dimensions. As a consequence, the materialand electrical properties of conductors and contacts becomecritical, and fabrication technology development meets newchallenges from the continuous reduction of devicedimensions. 2. Geophysical Applications of Vegetation Modeling
Abstract : This thesis describes the development and selected applications of a global vegetation model, BIOME4. The model is applied to problems in high-latitude vegetation distribution and climate, trace gas production, and isotope biogeochemistry. READ MORE

3. Signal Processing Aspects of Bistatic Backscatter Communication
Abstract : Passive Internet-of-Things (IoT), a new paradigm based on battery-free devices, is a promising technology to enable several use cases that require connectivity with stringent requirements in terms of cost, complexity, and energy efficiency. These use cases span critical sectors, such as healthcare, transportation, and agriculture. READ MORE

4. Equilibrium aspects of Cr-alloyed cemented carbides
Abstract : In view of the extensive use of Cr as a grain growth inhibitor in WC-Co cemented carbides this thesis comprises a combined experimental and ab initio study of a number of critical issues pertaining to phase equilibria of the subsystems to the W-Co-Cr-C system. To be able to predict which of the stable Cr-carbides forms above the solubility limits of Cr and C in the fcc phase the respective solubility of Co in Cr23C6, Cr7C3 and Cr3C2 are investigated experimentally. 5. Experimental and theoretical study of carbides in the Co-Cr-C system : Structure, alloying and stability
Abstract : The research presented in this thesis explores the structure, alloying and stability of the carbides in the Co-Cr-C system by using the CALPHAD approach supported by experimental measurements and ab initio calculations.WC-Co based cemented carbide materials consist of hard WC grains and a ductile Co-based binder.
