  1. 1. Existentiell ensamhet hos sköra äldre personer : vårdpersonals och volontärers erfarenheter och behov av stöd

    Author : Malin Sundström; Anna-Karin Edberg; Kerstin Blomqvist; Rämgård Margareta; Karin Josefsson; Högskolan Kristianstad; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Existentiell ensamhet; Sköra äldre personer; Vårdpersonal; Volontärer; Frivilligorganisationer; Enhetschefer; Vårdkontext; Stöd; Intervjuer; Case study; Innehållsanalys; Enkätstudie;

    Abstract : The overall aim of the thesis was to explore healthcare professionals’ and volunteers’ experiences of encountering older persons’ existential loneliness, the significance of the care context, and first-line managers’ view of support. Three of the studies were qualitative with a descriptive design (studies I–III) and the fourth was quantitative with a cross-sectional design (Study IV). READ MORE

  2. 2. Antigenic variation and virulence in Plasmodium falciparum malaria : studies on the surface protein PfEMP1

    Author : Karin Blomqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Approximately 40% of the world’s population is at risk of contracting malaria, a disease caused by the intracellular protozoan Plasmodium. The species Plasmodium falciparum is responsible for the majority of severe morbidity and mortality. READ MORE

  3. 3. Long-term side effects of radiotherapy in breast cancer : studies in ischemic heart disease and lung cancer

    Author : Anna-Karin Wennstig; Malin Sund; Carl Blomqvist; Greger Nilsson; Per Karlsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : breast cancer; radiotherapy; long-term side effects; ischemic heart disease; lung cancer; survivorship; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer in women worldwide. Due to early detection and advances in adjuvant therapies, most women diagnosed with early BC will be cured of their disease, and issues of survivorship are of great importance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Organic Phosphorus Compounds in Aquatic Sediments : Analysis, Abundance and Effects

    Author : Joakim Ahlgren; Emil Rydin; Monica Waldebäck; Lars Tranvik; Karin Markides; Sven Blomqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Organic phosphorus; aquatic sediment; eutrophication; NMR; internal loading; sample preparation; extraction; degradation; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Phosphorus (P) is often the limiting nutrient in lacustrine and brackish eco-systems, and enhanced input of P into an aquatic system might therefore negatively impact the environment. Because modern waste water manage-ment have reduced external P input to surface waters, internal P loading from the sediment has become one of the main P sources to aquatic ecosys-tems, in which relatively unknown organic P compounds seem to be more active in P recycling than previously thought. 5. 5. Measurement of Self-Heating of Biomass Pellets using Isothermal Calorimetry

    Author : Ida Larsson; Karin Granström; Anders Lönnermark; Per Blomqvist; Patrick van Hees; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; isothermal calorimetry; biomass pellets; wood pellets; self-heating; reactivity; screening test; isoterm kalorimetri; pellets; biomassa; självuppvärmning; reaktivitet; screeningtest; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Abstract : Self-heating in storage facilities of biomass pellet can lead to spontaneous combustion. This has resulted in many fires over the years, causing both financial and environmental losses.In order to assess the risk for spontaneous combustion of biomass pellets during storage, it is important to know how prone the fuel is to self-heating, i.e. READ MORE
