  1. 1. Folded polypeptide scaffolds for biosensor and biochip applications : design, synthesis, functionalisation and characterisation

    Author : Karin Enander; Sophia Hober; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the design, synthesis and evaluation of functional molecular units intended for use in biosensor and microarray applications. A flexible, synthetic helix-loop-helix polypeptide that dimerises to form four-helix bundles was used as a scaffold and was modified with affinity ligands and fluorescent probes to specifically bind a target biomolecule and report on this event in an integrated process. Abstract : Biomaterials are materials that are specifically designed to be in contact with biological systems and have for a long time been used in medicine. Examples of biomaterials range from sophisticated prostheses used for replacing outworn body parts to ordinary contact lenses. Currently it is possible to create biomaterials that can e.g. READ MORE

  5. 5. Biosensor surface chemistry for oriented protein immobilization and biochip patterning

    Author : Emma Ericsson; Karin Enander; Sofia Svedhem; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Biochip; biosensor; hydrogel; ligand; orientation; patterning; photochemistry; protein immobilization; surface chemistry; self-assembled monolayer; SAM;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis is focused on two methods for protein immobilization to biosensor surfaces for future applications in protein microarray formats. The common denominator is a surface chemistry based on a gold substrate with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of functionalized alkanethiolates. READ MORE
