6. Serine Hydrolase Selectivity : Kinetics and applications in organic and analytical chemistry
Abstract : The substrate selectivities for different serine hydrolases were utilized in various applications, presented in papers I-VI. The articles are discussed in the thesis in view of the kinetics of the enzyme catalysis involved. READ MORE

7. Lipase chemoselectivity - kinetics and applications
Abstract : A chemoselective catalyst is preferred in a chemical reaction where protecting groups otherwise are needed. The two lipases Candida antarctica lipase B and Rhizomucor miehei lipase showed large chemoselectivity ratios, defined as (kcat/KM)OH / (kcat/KM)SH, in a transacylation reaction with ethyl octanoate as acyl donor and hexanol or hexanethiol as acyl acceptor (paper I). 8. Lipase selectivity in functional polyester synthesis
Abstract : Enzyme selectivity means that the enzyme´s preferences towards competing substrates will be different. In this thesis, the enzyme selectivity has been studied for utilization in synthesis of functionalized macromonomers. READ MORE

9. Lipase-Lipid Interactions Studied by Site-Directed Labeling and Biological Spectroscopy
Abstract : This thesis describes the study of lipase–lipid interactions of the triglyceride lipase Thermomyces lanuginosus lipase, TLL, by use of site-directed chemical labeling and biological spectroscopy. Several single-cysteine variants of TLL were produced, and labeled with probes containing either an affinity-, a fluorescence- or a spin-label functionality. READ MORE

10. Rational redesign of Candida antarctica lipase B
Abstract : This thesis describes the use of rational redesign to modify the properties of the enzyme Candida antarctica lipase B. Through carefully selected single-point mutations, we were able to introduce substrate-assisted catalysis and to alter the reaction specificity. READ MORE
