1. Novel treatments of glioblastoma in experimental models
Abstract : One of the major problems with malignant brain tumours, such as glioblastoma multiforme, is that despite being able to remove the major bulk of the tumour through surgery and treating the patients with chemotherapy and radiotherapy, we know that tumour cells have already spread throughout the brain. Furthermore, we now know that the glioblastoma cells effectively suppress the patients’ own anti-tumour response. READ MORE

2. Cerebellar function during development. Eyeblink conditioning, prism adaptation and interval production in children and adults
Abstract : The focus of this thesis is on cerebellar-dependent sensorimotor tasks during development. The performance in classical delay eyeblink conditioning, prism adaptation, and isochronous serial interval production (finger tapping) was explored in typically developing school-aged children, young adolescents, and adults. 3. Modeling and Optimization of Reversed-Phase Chromatography : Effects of Modulators and Temperature
Abstract : Many widespread diseases, such as diabetes, various types of cancer, and aggressive versions of influenza, are treated or prevented with biopharmaceuticals. Biopharmaceuticals are drugs that are based on proteins, peptides, antibodies, attenuated viruses (vaccines), and other biomolecules that are synthesized predominately in bacteria, yeast, and mammalian cells. 4. Urban stormwater systems in future climates : assessment and management of hydraulic overloading
Abstract : Increasing global temperatures and tendencies of more frequent extreme weather events have been observed over the recent decades, and the continuation of this trend is predicted by future climate models. Such climatic changes impact on many human activities and hence the interest in, and focus on, climate change has increased rapidly in recent years. READ MORE

5. TNFalpha expression in monocytes/macrophages
Abstract : The recognition of microbes or microbial products by leukocytes is a key event in innate immunity. Binding of microbial products to cell surface receptors on phagocytes induce a response that includes the production of inflammatory mediators. One such mediator is the cytokine tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF). READ MORE
