  1. 1. On the Use of 76Br-labelled Monoclonal Antibodies for PET : Preclinical Evaluation of Halogenated Antibodies for Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer

    Author : Johanna Höglund; Katrine Riklund-Åhlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; bromine-76; positron emission tomography; monoclonal antibodies; cancer; direct and indirect radiohalogenation; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Abstract : Radioactive substances are used in vivo to localize and characterize malignant tumours, generally by scintigraphic methods. In this context positron emission tomography (PET) in combination with radiolabelled monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) may provide a sensitive and specific method for detection of cancer. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nuclear medicine methods in idiopathic Parkinsonism : pre- and postsynaptic dopamine SPECT

    Author : Susanna Jakobson Mo; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Anne Larsson Strömvall; Lars Forsgren; Rimma Axelsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nuclear medicine; SPECT; 123I-FP-Cit; 123I-IBZM; dopamine; parkinsonism; Parkinson’s disease; multiple system atrophy; progressive supranuclear palsy; Radiology; radiologi;

    Abstract : Background: Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with dopamine transporter (DAT) and dopamine D2 receptor (D2R) ligands can visualise the integrity of the nigrostriatal dopamine system. Parkinson’s disease (PD) and the atypical parkinsonian diseases (APD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and multiple system atrophy (MSA), have similar symptoms and dopamine depletion, but differ in pharmacological response and prognosis. 3. 3. How the past becomes present : neural mechanisms governing retrieval from episodic memory

    Author : Kristiina Kompus; Lars Nyberg; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Emrah Düzel; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; episodic retrieval; cognitive control; retrieval intention; prefrontal cortex; functional magnetic resonance imaging; event-related potentials; Neurophysiology; Neurofysiologi; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Remembering previously experienced events can happen as a result of an effortful retrieval attempt. At other occasions, a memory can enter our minds without any apparent effort – or, indeed, intention - to retrieve. READ MORE

  4. 4. Investigation of the origin of the coronary artery calcification process and its relationship to the atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease

    Author : George Koulaouzidis; Michael Henein; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Jan Engvall; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Coronary artery calcification; ethnicity; South Asians; Caucasians; reproducibility; aortic valve calcification; mitral valve calcification; family history of coronary artery disease; natural history; coronary artery calcium score; meta-analysis;

    Abstract : The objectives of this thesis are: a) To examine racial/ethnic differences in coronary artery calcification (CAC) and CAD, between symptomatic South Asians and Caucasians, matched for age, gender and conventional cardiovascular risk factors, b) To assess, using a meta-analysis model, the natural history of and stability of measurements of coronary artery calcium scoring (CACs) based on data collected from two large published trials: St Francis and EBEAT, c) To investigate the prevalence of coronary artery calcification in individuals with CT evidence for AVC, mitral valve calcification (MAC) or of both of them (AVC+MAC), d) To assess any potential association between premature CAD (.. 5. 5. Corrections for improved quantitative accuracy in SPECT and planar scintigraphic imaging

    Author : Anne Larsson; Lennart Johansson; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Bertil Axelsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Quantitative SPECT; scintigraphic imaging; attenuation correction; scatter correction; collimator-detector response; septal penetration; background correction; Monte Carlo simulation; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Abstract : A quantitative evaluation of single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and planar scintigraphic imaging may be valuable for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. For an accurate quantification it is usually necessary to correct for attenuation and scatter and in some cases also for septal penetration. READ MORE
