  1. 16. Assessment of tools for environmentally preferable procurement with a life cycle perspective : the case of acquisition in Swedish defence

    Author : Elisabeth Hochschorner; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; Acquisition; Ecodesign tools; Life Cycle Assessment; LCA; MECO; Public procurement; Simplified; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Procurement in public and non-public organisations has the potential to influence product development towards more environmentally preferable products. In 2003, public procurement in Sweden was 28% of GDP. Different types of approaches can contribute some knowledge and thereby facilitate the choice of environmentally preferable products. READ MORE

  2. 17. Thermodynamic properties of humid air and their application in advanced power generation cycles

    Author : Xiaoyan Ji; Jinyue Yan; Umberto Desideri; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; air-water mixture; humid air; properties; wet cycles; dry air; water; enthalpy; entropy; heat capacity; density; evaporative gas turbine; compressed air energy storage; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Water or steam is added into the working fluid (often air) in gas turbines to improve the performance of gas turbine cycles. A typical application is the humidified gas turbine that has the potential to give high efficiencies, high specific power output, low emissions and low specific investment. READ MORE

  3. 18. Kinetic modelling of autoignition phenomena

    Author : David Johansson; Pehr Björnbom; Johan Andrae; Ulf Henriksson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : To fully understand the elementary reactions behind the ignition of automotive fuels the interaction between the fuel components must be known. The ignition initiation is most often caused by loss of an H radical from a reactive fuel molecule, for example n-heptane. The formed alkyl radical is prone to react with oxygen under lean conditions. READ MORE

  4. 19. Anaerobic treatment of wastewater in a UASB reactor

    Author : Larisa Korsak; Luis Moreno; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Anaerobic treatment; UASB; granular biomass; methanogenic activity; modelling; axial dispersion; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The anaerobic treatment of waste water has been studied with an emphasis on the Up- flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactor. A model to describe the processes occurring in a UASB reactor was developed and an experimental study of the anaerobic wastewater treatment systems in Nicaragua was also performed. READ MORE
