1. The importance of body mass index and weight-change in patients with coronary artery disease
Abstract : High body mass index (BMI) is associated with cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. Obesity is also an independent risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD) and can cause structural as well as functional changes in the heart. High BMI is associated with increased mortality in the population. READ MORE

2. Childhood bereavement, stress resilience, and cancer risk : an integrated register-based approach
Abstract : Accumulating evidence suggests that psychosocial stress and susceptibility to stressful exposures – stress resilience – influence the risk of various health outcomes, but the potential link with cancer occurrence is unclear. The aims of this thesis were to test if loss of a close relative, a marker of severe psychological stress, and stress resilience measured during late adolescence are associated with cancer risk later in life, as well as to explore potential underlying mechanisms. 3. Mixed-Grained Till in Pavement Structures; A Field and Laboratory Study
Abstract : The road network in Sweden has historically been constructed using rock fill and natural gravel. More than 75 per cent of the land surface of Sweden is covered by glacial till and greater utilization of site-won material will not only reduce transportation costs but will also promote better sustainability of natural assets. 4. Magnetic Fields and Induced Power in the Induction Heating of Aluminium Billets
Abstract : Induction heating is a common industrial process used for the reheating of billets before extrusion or forging. In this work the influence of the coil and work piece geometry, the effect of the electrical properties of the work piece, and the coil current and frequency, on the magnetic flux density and resulting work piece heating rates were studied. 5. Complexity and Power Reduction in Digital Delta-Sigma Modulators
Abstract : A number of state-of-the-art low power consuming digital delta-sigma modulator (ΔΣ) architectures for digital-to-analog converters (DAC) are presented in this thesis. In an oversampling ΔΣ DAC, the primary job of the modulator is to reduce the word length of the digital control signal to the DAC and spectrally shape the resulting quantization noise. READ MORE
