  1. 1. Polyamines are involved in the regulation of S phase and DNA synthesis

    Author : Kersti Alm; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Djurfysiologi; Animal physiology; cell cycle regulation; p53; DNA strand breaks; replicon organization; topoisomerase II;

    Abstract : Our research group has previously shown that treatment with the polyamine biosynthesis inhibitors a-difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) or amidinoindan-1-one 2´-amidinohydrazone (CGP 48664) inhibited S phase progression before any other cell cycle phase was affected. This study was undertaken to further investigate the role of polyamines in the regulation of S phase progression and DNA synthesis. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Conceptual Structure of Object Control and Exceptional Case Marking in English

    Author : Henric Hertzman; Nils-Lennart Johannesson; Christina Alm-Arvius; Kersti Börjars; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; object control; exceptional case marking; conceptual structure; force dynamics; attitude predicates; event types; alternation; English language; Engelska språket;

    Abstract : Within the framework of Jackendoff’s conceptual semantics, this study investigates the semantic properties that govern the distribution of object control (such as John persuaded Mary to help Sally) and exceptional case marking (such as John wanted Mary to help Sally) in English. In contrast to Jackendoff’s approach to control, one central idea here is that the to-infinitive complements under discussion should receive a uniform semantic analysis, and thus that control behaviour cannot be explained in terms of semantic argument type of the complement clause. 3. 3. Connecting sialic acid expression to cancer cell characteristics : Novel tools for detection, imaging, and analysis

    Author : Louise Sternbæk; Anette Gjörloff Wingren; Kersti Alm; Birgit Janicke; Håkan Eriksson; Magnus Abrahamson; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : Molecularly imprinted polymers; digital holographic cytometry; cancer; cytotoxicity; inflammation; sialic acid; Health and society; Hälsa och samhälle;

    Abstract : Sialic acid (SA) plays a crucial role in many biological processes. Cell surface SA expression is usually analyzed with antibodies or lectins; however, they are costly and with poor stability. READ MORE
