  1. 1. Intra-abdominal Hypertension and Colonic Hypoperfusion after Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair

    Author : Khatereh Djavani Gidlund; Martin Björck; Anders Wanhainen; Johan Valtysson; Martin Malina; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal aneurysm; Intra-abdomnial hypertension; Abdominal compartment syndrome; Colonic ischaemia; Colonic hypotension; Intra-abdominal pressure; rupture abdominal aortic aneurysm; Vascular surgery; Kärlkirurgi; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Abstract : Colonic ischaemia (CI), Intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) are devastating complications after abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) surgery. The aims of this thesis were to study the incidence and clinical consequences of IAH/ACS and the association between CI and intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) among patients undergoing OR for ruptured AAA (rAAA), to compare extraluminal pHi monitoring, with standard intra-luminal monitoring among patients operated on for AAA, and to study the frequency and clinical consequences of IAH/ACS after endovascular repair (EVAR) for rAAA. 2. 2. Abdominal compartment syndrome and colonic ischaemia after abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in the endovascular era

    Author : Samuel Ersryd; Anders Wanhainen; Martin Björck; Khatereh Djavani; Anders Albäck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aortic aneurysm-abdominal; Intra-abdominal pressure; Intra-abdominal hypertension; Abdominal compartment syndrome; Rupture; Open ab-domen treatment; Colonic ischaemia; Endovascular aneurysm repair; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (ACS) and colonic ischaemia (CI) are serious and potentially lethal complications after open (OSR) and endovascular repair (EVAR) of ruptured (rAAA) and intact (iAAA) abdominal aortic aneurysms. The aims of this thesis were to investigate the incidence, outcome, and risk factors associated with ACS (Papers I-III) and to evaluate extraluminal colonic tonometry for postoperative surveillance of colonic perfusion (Paper IV). 3. 3. Aspects of subaneurysmal aortas in a screening setting

    Author : Knut Thorbjørnsen; Anders Wanhainen; Sverker Svensjö; Khatereh Djavani Gidlund; Håkan Pärsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Abdominal aortic aneurysm; subaneurysmal aorta; screening; health related quality of life; health utility; quality adjusted life years; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Abstract : With the introduction of screening programmes for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) more individuals are being identified with a subaneurymal aorta (SAA; diameter 25-29mm). More recent data indicate that these aortas may not be as harmless as previously thought, but there is, however, no general agreement on how SAA should be managed. READ MORE
