  1. 1. Role of tubular scattered cells of the kidney in disease and regeneration

    Author : Krzysztof Krawczyk; Malmö Klinisk patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kidney Diseases; acute kidney disease; acute kidney injury; chronic kidney disease; SOX9; pIgR; Polymeric immunoglobulin receptor; Immune cells; papillary carcinoma; pRCC; Kidney cancer;

    Abstract : With well over 700 000 deaths every year worldwide, kidney disease constitutes an immense health problem for patients and society. The total global number of people with kidney disease regardless of severity amounts to a staggering 600 000 000. READ MORE

  2. 2. Identification and characterization of candidate genes for neuroblastoma development

    Author : Cecilia Krona; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cancer; tumor; child; embryonal; neural crest; neuroblastoma; chromosome 1; 1p36; mutation; expression; tumor suppressor gene; UBE4B; KIF1B; PGD; CORT; DFFA; PEX14; ICAT; CASP9; ENO1; MBP1; APITD1; PHOX2B;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common tumor during infancy. It arises from undifferentiated cells in the sympathetic nervous system and is characterized by both clinical and genetic heterogeneity. One of the features of NBs with unfavorable outcome is loss on distal chromosome 1p. READ MORE

  3. 3. Improving radioimmunotargeting of tumors : the impact of extracorporeal immunoadsorption and preload in rats

    Author : Michael Garkavij; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; preload.; immunoadsorption; MAb; rat; Tumor; radioimmunotargeting; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Abstract : In radioimmunotherapy of tumors, uptake of the monoclonal antibody (MAb) used is often too low in relation to its uptake in normal tissues. The purpose of these studies was to improve experimental tumor radioimmunotargeting with (a) extracorporeal immunoadsorption (ECIA), where excess of radiolabeled MAbs circulating in blood is removed, (b) or by preload with unlabeled MAb prior to injection of radiolabeled MAb, (c) or by a combination of these. 4. 4. Human intestinal alkaline phosphatase : tissue expression and serum levels

    Author : Ulla Domar; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human alkaline phosphatase; intestinal alkaline phosphatase; blood; blood group; lipid; monoclonal antibody; immunohistochemistry; liver; kidney; pancreas; liver disease; inflammatory bowel disease;

    Abstract : Human alkaline phosphatase (ALP) comprises four isozymes, viz liver/bone/ kidney or tissue unspecific (AP), intestinal (LAP), placental (PLAP) and germ cell or PLAP-like alkaline phosphatase, with their main expression in specific tissues as indicated by their names. The isozymes are coded by different genes, but they are closely related, with more than 50% amino acid sequence homologies. READ MORE

  5. 5. The role of Shb in ES cell differentiation, angiogenesis and tumor growth

    Author : Nina Funa; Michael Welsh; Leif Jansson; Lars Holmgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Cell biology; Shb; tyrosine kinase signaling; ES; endoderm; mesoderm; apoptosis; microvasculature; tumor growth; Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Shb is a ubiquitously expressed adaptor protein with the ability to bind several tyrosine kinase receptors and intracellular signaling proteins. Previous studies have implied a wide spectrum of Shb-mediated cellular responses, which motivated me to further investigate the role of Shb in differentiation and angiogenesis. READ MORE
