  1. 1. Discrete Kinetic Models and Conservation Laws

    Author : Mirela Cristina Vinerean; Alexander Bobylev; Giampiero Spiga; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kinetic theory; discrete kinetic velocity models; conservation laws; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : Classical kinetic theory of gases is based on the Boltzmann equation (BE) which describes the evolution of a system of particles undergoing collisions preserving mass, momentum and energy. Discretization methods have been developed on the idea of replacing the original BE by a finite set of nonlinear hyperbolic PDEs corresponding to the densities linked to a suitable finite set of velocities. 2. 2. Classification of Normal Discrete Kinetic Models

    Author : Mirela Christina Vinerean; Alexander Bobylev; Mirela Vinerean-Bernhoff; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kinetic theory; discrete kinetic velocity models; conservation laws; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : “In many interesting papers on discrete velocity models (DVMs), authors postulate from the beginning that the finite velocity space with "good" properties is given and only after this step they study the Discrete Boltzmann Equation. Contrary to this approach, our aim is not to study the equation, but to discuss all possible choices of finite phase spaces (sets) satisfying this type of "good" restrictions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Adsorption of Metallic Ions onto Chitosan : Equilibrium and Kinetic Studies

    Author : Martha Benavente; Joaquín Martínez; Olle Wahlberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Adsorption; biosorption; chitin; heavy metals; isotherm; kinetic models; mining; speciation; water treatment; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Equilibrium isotherms and the adsorption kinetics of heavy metals onto chitosan were studied experimentally. Chitosan, a biopolymer produced from crustacean shells, has applications in various areas, particularly in drinking water and wastewater treatment due to its ability to remove metallic ions from solutions. 4. 4. Kinetic Models in Life Science — Contributions to Methods and Applications

    Author : Joachim Almquist; Stiftelsen Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centrum för Industrimatematik (FCC); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NLME modeling; kinetic models; FOCE; Mig1; cell-to-cell variability; pharmacokinetics; parameter estimation; ticagrelor; atrial fibrillation; Kv1.5;

    Abstract : Kinetic models in life science combine mathematics and biology to answer questions from areas such as cell biology, physiology, biotechnology, and drug development. The idea of kinetic models is to represent a biological system by a number of biochemical reactions together with mathematical expressions for the reaction kinetics, i.e. READ MORE

  5. 5. BlueBellMouse. A Tool for Kinetic Model Development

    Author : Raffaella Bellanca; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; combustion; HCCI; reduction; engine; kinetic; simulation; graphical user interface; GUI; optimization; chemical mechanism; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Bellanca;

    Abstract : The simulation of physical phenomena occurring in chemical reactors requires the description of the kinetics involved in the underlying combustion process. Kinetic models are developed for this purpose. READ MORE
