11. Proton, Electron, and O2 transfer in Cytochrome c Oxidase
Abstract : In mitochondria and aerobic bacteria energy conservation involves electron transfer through the membrane-bound protein of the respiratory chain to oxygen. Cytochrome c oxidase (CcO) catalyzes the reduction of oxygen to water. Part of the energy released in this reaction is used to pump protons across the membrane. READ MORE

12. Stepping into Catalysis : Kinetic and Mechanistic Investigations of Photo- and Electrocatalytic Hydrogen Production with Natural and Synthetic Molecular Catalysts
Abstract : In light of its rapidly growing energy demand, human society has an urgent need to become much more strongly reliant on renewable and sustainable energy carriers. Molecular hydrogen made from water with solar energy could provide an ideal case. READ MORE

13. Time Spectral Methods - Towards Plasma Turbulence Modelling
Abstract : Energy comes in two forms; potential energy and kinetic energy. Energyis stored as potential energy and released in the form of kinetic energy. This process of storage and release is the basic strategy of all energy alternatives in use today. This applies to solar, wind, fossil fuels, and the list goes on. READ MORE

14. Nonlinear interaction and propagation of gravitational and electromagnetic waves in plasmas
Abstract : Gravitational waves and electromagnetic waves are important as carriers of energy and information. This thesis is devoted to the study of the propagation and interaction of these waves in plasmas, with emphasis on nonlinear effects and applications within astrophysics. READ MORE

15. Computer simulations of ribosome reactions
Abstract : Peptide bond formation and translational termination on the ribosome have been simulated by molecular mechanics, free energy perturbation, empirical valence bond (MD/FEP/EVB) and automated docking methods. Recent X-ray crystallographic data is used here to calculate the entire free energy surface for the system complete with substrates, ribosomal groups, solvent molecules and ions. READ MORE
