    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chitosan Biopolymer; Characterization; Biodegradable; Arsenic V ; Uranium VI ; Adsorption; Isotherm; Kinetic model; Chitosan; Biopolymer; Karakterisering; Bionedbrytbar; arsenik V ; uran VI ; Adsorption; Isoterm; Kinetisk modell; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Abstract : In many countries over the world (including Sweden), metal toxicity in freshwater resources causes a severe drinking water quality problem and poses a threat to the environment and human health. Among the different toxic metals in the water resources of Sweden, arsenic and uranium are the biggest threats to health. READ MORE

  2. 2. Gasification of biochars: Evolution of pore structure, effects of alkalis and alkali release

    Author : Saiman Ding; Klas Engvall; Efthymios Kantarelis; Jukka Konttinen; KTH; []

    Abstract : In recent years, high arsenic (As) levels of about 300 µg/L have been reported around the gold mining areas of Geita and Mara regions within the Lake Victoria basin (LVB) in Tanzania. During a sampling campaign at Geita and Mara, the groundwater and surface water samples revealed the presence of high As concentrations as well as Fe and sulfide. READ MORE

  4. 4. Macroscopic Modeling of Metabolic Reaction Networks and Dynamic Identification of Elementary Flux Modes by Column Generation

    Author : Hildur Æsa Oddsdóttir; Anders Forsgren; Bernhard Palsson; KTH; []

    Abstract : Earth has entered a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene, defined by humanity’s impact on the environment with increased emissions of CO2 due to burning of fossil resource as a major contributor. To ensure a sustainable future, humanity has to move towards a circular economy, where released CO2 is re-captured and turned into resources. READ MORE
