  2. 2. Multipole moments of axisymmetric spacetimes

    Author : Thomas Bäckdahl; Magnus Herberthson; Brian Edgar; Kjell Rosquist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multipole moments; axisymmetry; spacetimes; prescribed; solutions; static; stationary; Kerr; Weyl; Ernst; Theory of relativity; gravitation; Relativitetsteori; gravitation;

    Abstract : In this thesis we study multipole moments of axisymmetric spacetimes. Using the recursive definition of the multipole moments of Geroch and Hansen we develop a method for computing all multipole moments of a stationary axisymmetric spacetime without the use of a recursion. READ MORE

  3. 3. Black-Hole Universe

    Author : Irina Galstyan; Kjell Rosquist; Ingemar Bengtsson; Sören Holst; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we have constructed new analytical solutions for initial data of the Einstein equations. Such solutions are valuable for gaining a better understanding of problems involving strong gravitational and/or electromagnetic interactions in general relativity. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cosmological models, nonideal fluids and viscous forces in general relativity

    Author : Daniele Gregoris; Kjell Rosquist; Alan Coley; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gravity; exact model; black hole; friction; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the open questions of providing a cosmological model describing an accelerated expanding Universe without violating the energy conditions or a model that contributes to the physical interpretation of the dark energy. The former case is analyzed considering a closed model based on a regular lattice of black holes using the Einstein equation in vacuum. READ MORE

  5. 5. Stellar Models in General Relativity

    Author : Lars Samuelsson; Kjell Rosquist; Brandon Carter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; General relativity; compact objects; neutron stars; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Neutron stars are some of the most fascinating objects in Nature. Essentially all aspects of physics seems to be represented inside them. Their cores are likely to contain deconfined quarks, hyperons and other exotic phases of matter in which the strong interaction is the dominant force. READ MORE
