    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multiple-cue judgment; exemplar models; cue abstraction; cue-combination rule; Cognitive science; Kognitionsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Judgments that demand consideration of pieces of information in the environment occur repeatedly throughout our lives. One professional example is that of a physician that considers multiple symptoms to make a judgment about a patient’s disease. READ MORE

  2. 7. Minding the Body : Interacting socially through embodied action

    Author : Jessica Lindblom; Tom Ziemke; Shaun Gallagher; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : This dissertation clarifies the role and relevance of the body in social interaction and cognition from an embodied cognitive science perspective. Theories of embodied cognition have during the past two decades offered a radical shift in explanations of the human mind, from traditional computationalism which considers cognition in terms of internal symbolic representations and computational processes, to emphasizing the way cognition is shaped by the body and its sensorimotor interaction with the surrounding social and material world. Abstract : This thesis describes and analyzes implications of going from hypertext news to hypermedia news through a process of design, involving users and producers. As in any product development, it is difficult to conceive design of a novel news format that does not relate to earlier genres, and thus to antecedent designs. READ MORE

    Abstract : This dissertation focuses on the design of interactive learning environments (ILEs) to support learning in complex domains. Previous research efforts in this field indicate that we lack a well-articulated design framework with sufficient detail to take us from a socially-situated, problem-based, collaborative learning perspective to the design of a particular learning environment for a particular subject domain.
