  1. 16. A Microdata Analysis Approach to Transport Infrastructure Maintenance

    Author : Kristin Svenson; Lars Rönnegård; Karin Edvardsson; Nasir Gharaibeh; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transport Infrastructure Asset Management; Transport Infrastructure Maintenance; Statistical Modeling; Microdata Analysis; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Abstract : Maintenance of transport infrastructure assets is widely advocated as the key in minimizing current and future costs of the transportation network. While effective maintenance decisions are often a result of engineering skills and practical knowledge, efficient decisions must also account for the net result over an asset's life-cycle. READ MORE

  2. 17. Applications of artificial neural networks for time series data analysis in energy domain

    Author : Fan Zhang; Hasan Fleyeh; Stawomir Nowaczyk; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Deregulated energy market; electricity prices; district heating; energy efficiency; neural networks; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Abstract : With the development of artificial intelligence techniques and increased installation of smart meters in recent years, time series analysis using historical data in the energy domain becomes applicable. In this thesis, microdata analysis approaches are used, which consist of data acquisition, data processing, data analysis and data modelling, aiming to address two research problems in the energy domain. 5. 20. Automating condition monitoring of vegetation on railway trackbeds and embankments

    Author : Roger G. Nyberg; Narendra K. Gupta; Mark S. Dougherty; Siril Yella; David J. Murray-Smith; Alistair Armitage; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Abstract : Vegetation growing on railway trackbeds and embankments present potential problems. The presence of vegetation threatens the safety of personnel inspecting the railway infrastructure. In addition vegetation growth clogs the ballast and results in inadequate track drainage which in turn could lead to the collapse of the railway embankment. READ MORE
