  1. 6. Single-Photon Events in the DELPHI Experiment

    Author : Elisabeth Falk; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kvantfältteori; Elementarpartikelfysik; quantum field theory; DELPHI; STIC; LEP; single-photon events; PS; off-energy electrons; silicon-strip detector; coherent noise; emittance; Elementary particle physics; fast wire scanner; High energy interactions; cosmic rays; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Falk Harris;

    Abstract : A series of studies pertaining to the STIC calorimeter at the DELPHI experiment at LEP is presented, and a new generation of fast wire scanners for emittance measurements at PS is described. The STIC studies are centered around a single-photon analysis, in which the reaction e+ e- -> gamma + invisible particles was studied at center-of-mass energies of 161, 172 and 183 GeV. READ MORE

  2. 7. Aspects of QCD and the Photon Structure

    Author : Christer Friberg; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High energy interactions; QCD; Photons; Monte Carlo Event Generator; Leptoquarks; Colour Connections; cosmic rays; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Friberg;

    Abstract : In a single theoretical framework, real and virtual photon interactions are modeled for gamma-p and gamma-gamma collisions. The description covers aspects from the production of jets to total cross sections, where special emphasis is put on the range of uncertainty in the modeling of a resolved photon component. 3. 8. Properties of Hadronization in e+e- -Annihilation

    Author : Jari Häkkinen; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; högenergi; colour interferences; strong interactions; QCD; heavy quark fragmentation; MC programs; Kosmisk strålning; cosmic rays; hadronization; High energy interactions; e e- -annihilation; Fysicumarkivet A:1996:Häkkinen;

    Abstract : Possible effects from colour interferences in strong interactions are discussed and investigated, and possible experimental signals in e+e- --> hadrons and e+e- --> W+W- --> hadrons are suggested. The observability of the signals depend on the relative probabilities of the occurrence of interferences, and can provide a measurement of the probabilities. READ MORE

  4. 9. Structure Functions and Final-State Properties in Deeply Inelastic electron-proton Scattering

    Author : Hamid Kharraziha; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cosmic rays; event generators; colour factors; High energy interactions; hadronic jets; QCD; the Linked Dipole Chain model; quantum mechanics; relativity; gravitation; statistical physics; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Kharraziha;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we give a description of the detailed structure of the proton and a description of the final-state properties in electron-proton scattering. Qualitative results, in a purely gluonic scenario with the leading log approximation, and quantitative results, where quarks are included and some sub-leading corrections have been made, are presented. 5. 10. Investigations on Emission Sources in Proton-Nucleus and Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions

    Author : Johan Mårtensson; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High energy interactions; Fysik; Physics; correlation function.; fermion interferometry; t p and d p ratios; target mass dependence; pion angular distribution; pion excitation function; Heavy ion reactions; intermediate energy; cosmic rays; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi;

    Abstract : Emission sources in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at intermediate energies have been studied. Pion excitation functions from the absolute threshold to 500 MeV have been measured with an ion beam of continuously varying energy with an energy resolution of 1 MeV. READ MORE
