  1. 1. Modeling of dose and sensitivity heterogeneities in radiation therapy

    Author : Kristin Wiklund; Bengt K. Lind; Iuliana Toma-Dasu; Marco Zaider; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Monte Carlo simulations; Tumor control probability; Modeling; Beam characterization; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Abstract : The increased interest in the use of light ion therapy is due to the high dose conformity to the target and the dense energy deposition along the tracks resulting in increased relative biological effectiveness compared to conventional radiation therapy. In spite of the good clinical experience, fundamental research on the characteristics of the ion beams is still needed in order to be able to fully explore their use. READ MORE

  2. 2. Natural and pollution induced factors affecting the reproduction in amphipods

    Author : Ann-Kristin Eriksson Wiklund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Amfipoder; miljöaspekter;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  3. 3. Toxicity of Inorganic Aluminium in Humic Streams

    Author : Cecilia M. Andrén; Emil Rydin; Hans Borg; Ann-Kristin Eriksson Wiklund; Björn-Olav Rosseland; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic Al; toxicity; acidification; humic streams; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Aluminium (Al) has been recognised as a main toxic factor alongside pH in acidified water ecosystems. The toxic effect of Al has been attributed to inorganic Al (Ali), though there are few in situ studies in ambient humic waters which are the focus of this thesis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Use and environmental impact of antifouling paints in the Baltic Sea

    Author : Maria Alexandra Bighiu; Ann-Kristin Eriksson-Wiklund; Bethanie Carney Almroth; Manu Soto; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; boats; antifouling paints; metals; XRF; in situ; caging; Theodoxus fluviatilis; toxicity; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Biocide-based antifouling (AF) paints are the most common method for preventing biofouling, i.e. the growth of algae, barnacles and other organisms on boat hulls. AF paints for leisure boats are predominantly based on copper (Cu) as the main biocide, with zinc (Zn) present as a pigment and stabilizer. READ MORE

  5. 5. Integrative approaches in ecotoxicological testing: Implications for biomarker development and application

    Author : Sara Furuhagen; Elena Gorokhova; Magnus Breitholtz; Lars Förlin; Ann-Kristin Eriksson Wiklund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biomarker; oxidative stress; Daphnia magna; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Ecotoxicology aims to understand toxic effects of chemicals in the environment. Effects can be observed at different levels of the biological organization, from molecular to ecosystem level. READ MORE
