  2. 2. Making sense of adsorption : Attempting to explain the adsorption of histatin 5 with models, metaphors, and machines

    Author : Kristin Hyltegren; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : Intrinsically Disordered Proteins; histatin 5; adsorption; ellipsometry; Monte Carlo simulations; coarse graining; charge regulation;

    Abstract : This thesis summarises two studies in which the main purpose was to find out how and why the amount of the protein histatin 5 that adsorbs to negatively charged surfaces changes with pH and ionic strength. Histatin 5 is an intrinsically disordered saliva protein, and in the oral environment it adsorbs to tooth enamel. READ MORE

  3. 3. Material perception and action : The role of material properties in object handling

    Author : Kristin Ingvarsdottir; Kognitiv modellering; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; material perception; visual properties; motor planning; cognition; humanoid robot;

    Abstract : This dissertation is about visual perception of material properties and their role in preparation for object handling. Usually before an object is touched or picked-up we estimate its size and shape based on visual features to plan the grip size of our hand. READ MORE

  4. 4. Coarse-Grained Modelling of Protein Adsorption

    Author : Kristin Hyltegren; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; intrinsically disordered proteins; histatin 5; fibrinogen; protein adsorption; nanotopography; ellipsometry; Monte Carlo simulations; Coarse-grained modelling; charge regulation;

    Abstract : The adsorption of proteins is a very common phenomenon, happening almost always when a protein solution comes into contact with a solid. However, it is far from always clear what the results of adsorption will be in terms of adsorbed amount, protein orientation, and protein conformation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Women’s writing and political activism in the 1930s

    Author : Kristin Ewins; St Hilda’s College University of Oxford; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; English; Engelska;
