1. Magnetic Refrigeration for Near Room-Temperature Applications
Abstract : Refrigeration plays a crucial role in many different sectors and consumes about 17% of the electricity produced globally. This significant energy consumption implies large share of refrigeration in primary energy consumption and other environmental impacts. READ MORE

2. Combined Energy Solutions Applied to Dairy Farming in Bolivia and Latin America
Abstract : The transition towards a sustainable world requires immediate action on the part of individuals and communities. Developing countries find the task of incorporating climate change policies difficult for various reasons including the negative effects that the Covid-19 pandemic left behind on the economy. 3. Experimental study of an intermittent ventilation system in high occupancy spaces
Abstract : Spaces with high occupancy density like classrooms are challenging to ventilate and use a lot of energy to maintain comfort. Usually, a compromise is made between low energy use and good Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ), of which poor IEQ has consequences for occupants’ health, productivity and comfort. READ MORE

4. Steering sustainability transitions? Modular participatory backcasting for strategic planning in the heating and cooling sector
Abstract : Fostering sustainability transitions in the heating and cooling sector is a necessary and urgent issue. Steering mechanisms can enable coordination of actions by different actors towards common sustainability goals. READ MORE

5. Numerical Investigations on Debris Bed Coolability and Mitigation Measures in Nordic Boiling Water Reactors
Abstract : This thesis is aiming at coolability assessment of particulate debris beds formed in hypothetical severe accidents of Nordic boiling water reactors (BWRs) which may employ either lower drywell flooding or control rod guide tubes (CRGT) cooling as severe accident management strategies. For this purpose, quench and cooling limit (dryout) of debris beds after their formation from fuel coolant interactions were investigated by numerical simulations using the MEWA code. READ MORE
