11. All CO2 molecules are equal, but some CO2 molecules are more equal than others
Abstract : This thesis deals with some challenges related to the mitigation of climate change and the overall aim is to present and assess different possibilities for the mitigation of climate change by: • Suggesting some measures with a potential to abate net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, • Discussing ideas for how decision-makers could tackle some of the encountered obstacles linked to these measures, and • Pointing at some problems with the current Kyoto framework and suggesting modifications of it. The quantification of the net CO2 effect from a specific project, frequently referred to as emissions accounting, is an important tool to evaluate projects and strategies for mitigating climate change. 12. Mitigating climate change - The role of developing countries
Abstract : The objective of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is to stabilize greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at a level that prevents dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system. It is still politically and scientifically uncertain at which level greenhouse gases must be stabilized to achieve this objective. READ MORE

13. Power generation technology choice in the presence of climate policy
Abstract : The overall purpose of this thesis is to analyze power generation technology choices in the presence of climate policy. Special attention is paid to the diffusion of renewable power technologies following a carbon pricing policy, and this topic is analyzed in two self-contained papers. READ MORE

14. Carbon stocks and fluxes in a young Siberian larch (Larix sibirica) plantation in Iceland
Abstract : The understanding of how forests function with respect to carbon (C) balance and its interaction with the climate system is a fundamental question in climate change research. Another important question is how large the sink for CO2 is in northern forests and how it varies with forest type, management, stand age and with external factors, such as climate variability. 15. Global Warming and Our Natural Duties of Justice : A cosmopolitan political conception of justice
Abstract : Compelling research in international relations and international political economy on global warming suggests that one part of any meaningful effort to radically reverse current trends of increasing green house gas (GHG) emissions is shared policies among states that generate costs for such emissions in many if not most of the world’s regions. Effectively employing such policies involves gaining much more extensive global commitments and developing much stronger compliance mechanism than those currently found in the Kyoto Protocol.
