  1. 11. Thermodynamic Modelling of Electrolyte Solutions with Application to the Pulp and Paper Industry

    Author : Anders Jaretun; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Potassium; Chloride; Chemical recovery; Leaching; Crystallization; Kraft pulping; Non-process elements; Solubility; Local composition; Excess properties; Osmotic coefficient; Electrolytes; Activity coefficient; Wood; pulp and paper technology; Pappers- och massateknik;

    Abstract : A thermodynamic model for electrolyte solutions has been derived for binary and multicomponent solutions up to very high molalities. The model was extensively tested on 163 binary aqueous electrolyte systems up to very high molalities, and the results show that the model represents mean ionic activity coefficients and osmotic coefficients very accurately. 2. 12. Phosphine ligands with triamine functionality - preparation and application in catalysis

    Author : Magnus Karlsson; Enheten för fysikalisk och teoretisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; water soluble; palladium; amphiphilic; rhodium; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Incorporation of the triamine, bis(2-diethylaminoethyl) amine as a side chain substituent on triphenylphosphine, (2S,4S)-4-diphenylphosphino-2-diphenylphosphino-methylpyrrolidine (PPM) or (R,R)-3,4-bis(diphenylphosphin)pyrrolidine (Pyrphos) gives the three new amphiphilic ligands N3P, N3PPM and N3-Pyrphos respectively. Because of the triamine functionality the distribution of the ligands and their complexes between water and an organic solvent is controlled by the pH of the aqueous phase. READ MORE

  3. 13. Enzymatic hydrolysis coupled to hot water extraction for determination of flavonoids in plants

    Author : Sofia Lindahl; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; extraction; flavonoids; quercetin; biocatalysis; beta-glucosidase; sustainable chemistry; hyphenation; molecularly imprinted polymers; onion;

    Abstract : The word sustainability is more and more frequently used within the field of chemistry and in many other fields. Green or sustainable chemistry was introduced during the 90 ́s as a field of chemistry where the environmental and health impacts of processes and products are evaluated and improved. READ MORE

  4. 14. Environmental Assessment of Green Chemicals - LCA of Bio-Based Chemicals Produced Using Biocatalysis

    Author : Linda Tufvesson; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; green chemicals; industrial biotechnology; Life cycle assessment; renewable resources;

    Abstract : It is of at most importance that society reduces its impact on the environment. In the chemical industry the use of renewable resources will play a fundamental role in the transition to more sustainable chemical products. Also industrial biotechnology, i.e. READ MORE

  5. 15. Packing effects in palladium(II) and platinum(II) compounds, X-ray crystallography

    Author : Maria Johansson; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; Platinum II ; Palladium II ; Half-normal probability plots; X-ray crystallography; Packing effects; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on i) the effect of packing on the molecular geometry ii) packing arrangements of neutral Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes iii) the trans influence in Pt(II) complexes iv) the differences in bonding in corresponding Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes and v) the geometry of Pd(II) complexes with potential catalytic properties. Detailed three-dimensional structural information at the atomic level can be obtained from X-ray crystallography. READ MORE
