  1. 6. Multi-platform metabolomics assays to study the responsiveness of the human plasma and lung lavage metabolome

    Author : Masoumeh Karimpour; Malin Nording L.; Magnus Åberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LC MS; GC MS; NMR; metabolomics; metabolite; exposure; postprandial; plasma; lung lavage; BW; BW; data analysis; univariate analysis; multivariate analysis;

    Abstract : Metabolomics as a field has been used to track changes and perturbations in the human body by investigating metabolite profiles indicating the change of metabolite levels over time and in response to different challenges. In this thesis work, the main focus was on applying multiplatform-metabolomics to study the human metabolome following exposure to perturbations, such as diet (in the form of a challenge meal) and exhaust emissions (air pollution exposure in a controlled setting). 2. 7. Asymptotic Giant Branch stars viewed up-close and far-off : The physics, chemistry, and evolution of their circumstellar envelopes

    Author : Matthias Maercker; Hans Olofsson; Fredrik L. Schöier; Laurentius B. F. M. Waters; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AGB stars; evolution; mass-loss; abundances; Astronomy; Astronomi; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : The asymptotic giant branch (AGB) is the last stage of stellar evolution for stars with masses between 0.8-8 M(sun). This phase is characterised by an intense mass loss, which builds up a circumstellar envelope of dust and gas(CSE). It is through this process that the AGB stars contribute to the chemical evolution of galaxies. READ MORE

  3. 8. Particle-fluid interactions under heterogeneous reactions

    Author : Thamali Rajika Jayawickrama; Kentaro Umeki; Nils Erland L. Haugen; Matthaus Babler; Muhammad Aqib Chishty; Henrik Ström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stefan flow; drag coefficient; Nusselt number; Sherwood number; particle-fluid flow; reacting flow; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Particle-fluid flows are involved in many natural processes and industrial applications; some examples are drying, solid fuel combustion, gasification, and catalytic cracking. It is vital to understand the phenomena involved in particle-fluid flows in depth for design, predictions and process improvements. READ MORE

  4. 9. Unraveling the Socio-Technical Tensions of Performance Measurement in Public Welfare Organizations

    Author : Annika Hasselblad; Leif Olsson; Katarina L Gidlund; Aron Larsson; Karin Danielsson; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In the name of efficiency, performance measurement has gained traction in public welfare organizations. The idea of performance measurement originates from views of all organizations rooted in scientific management notions that emerged during industrialization, as kinds of production units, according to an industrial logic. 5. 10. Distributed Technology-Sustained Pervasive Applications

    Author : Kim J.L. Nevelsteen; Theo Kanter; Rahim Rahmani; Kåre Synnes; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pervasive; games; engine; distributed; virtual; world; internet of things; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : Technology-sustained pervasive games, contrary to technology-supported pervasive games, can be understood as computer games interfacing with the physical world. Pervasive games are known to make use of ‘non-standard input devices’ and with the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), pervasive applications can be expected to move beyond games. READ MORE
