  1. 1. Oxygen-dependent regulation of transcription by the hypoxia-inducible factor-1

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology

    Author : Jorge Lira Ruas; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hypoxia; HIF-1; protein degradation; transcription; coactivators; CBP; subcellular localization; C1-tetrahydrofolate synthase;

    Abstract : Under limited oxygen availability (hypoxia) cells undergo rapid reprogramming in order to survive in the new environment until normoxic conditions are re-established. The observation that hypoxia can induce the expression of genes involved in erythropoiesis, angiogenesis and glucose metabolism among others, led to the identification of the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) as a master regulator of the hypoxia-response pathway. 2. 2. Gradation-Based Framework for Asphalt Mixtures

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology

    Author : Bernardita Francisca Lira Miranda; Björn Birgisson; Terhi Pellinen; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Asphalt; aggregate gradation; packing theory; asphalt microstructure; porosity; film thickness; rutting; moisture damage.; SRA - Transport; SRA - Transport;

    Abstract : Asphalt mixture microstructure is formed by aggregates, bitumen binder and air voids. Aggregates make for up to 90% of the mixtures volume and the structure formed by them will depend mostly on their size distribution and shape. READ MORE

  3. 3. Long-term Performance of PVC and CSPE Cables used in Nuclear Power Plants : the Effect of Degradation and Plasticizer migration

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Maria Ekelund; Ulf Gedde; Thomas Hjertberg; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PCV; CSPE; cables; ageing; mechanical properties; plasticizer migratio; LIRA; life time prediction; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi;

    Abstract : Enormous amounts of low voltage cables installed in a Swedish nuclear power plant are reaching their expected lifetimes. Since the cables are crucial to operational safety, it is of great importance that the actual condition of the installed cables is determined. READ MORE
