  1. 1. Coagulation in children with liver disease

    Author : Maria Magnusson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : FVIIa;

    Abstract : About 100 new children in Sweden require care at a tertiary pediatric ward each year for severe liver disease. These children are at risk for both severe gastrointestinal bleeding, which may be life threatening, and intra- or extrahepatic thrombosis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Liver Transplantation-associated Food Allergy and Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Inflammation in Children - Clinical and Immunological Aspects

    Author : Timo Käppi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; liver transplantation; food allergy; autoantibody; immune dysregulation; collagenous gastritis; eosinophilic esophagitis; eosinophilic inflammation; eosinophil; children;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on three recently described childhood-onset gastrointestinal disorders: liver transplantation-associated food allergy (LTFA), collagenous gastritis (CG) and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). Its aim was to gain additional understanding of both the clinical disease characteristics and the associated immunological aberrations in these conditions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Gluten challenge in children with coeliac disease. With special reference to dose dependence and impact on growth markers and growth hormone secretion

    Author : Ulf Jansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Coeliac disease; children; gluten challenge; gluten dose; symptoms; enteropathy; ALP; ALAT; ASAT; albumin; IGF-I; GH.;

    Abstract : Coeliac disease is a prevalent food intolerance in both children and adults, in which ingestion of gluten causes inflammation of the small intestine. This inflammation resolves upon gluten withdrawal, and gluten challenge induces relapse of enteropathy in susceptible individuals. READ MORE

  4. 4. Renal function after transplantation of the liver and intestine

    Author : Gustaf Herlenius; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : adult liver transplantation; pediatric liver transplantation; intestinal transplantation; multivisceral transplantation; immunosuppression; calcineurin inhibitors; glomerular filtration rate; renal function; nephrotoxicity; chronic kidney disease; renal replacement therapy; mortality;

    Abstract : Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) after liver (LT) or intestinal (IT) transplantation may decrease patient survival. Calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) play a major role in its development. Aims: Describe long term renal function and risk factors for developing CKD in adults and children after LT and IT. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mitochondrial disease in children : from clinical presentation to genetic background
