6. Competitive strength in iron ore production
Abstract : This thesis is about competitive strength in the global markets for iron ore. Its focus is on the Swedish iron ore producer, LKAB, and its role in this global market. The finding of new vast deposits of iron ore in Brazil and Australia, together with falling transportation costs, meant that LKAB started to meet fierce competition in the 1970s. READ MORE

7. Cost-benefit analysis of labor market programs : Applied to a temporary program in northern Sweden
Abstract : The study's objective is to evaluate the relief works and special projects that were in effect during the period 1983-1986 due to the labor force reduction of almost 2 000 persons at the LKAB Mining Company in 1983. These reductions caused the Swedish Parliament to set up a special labor market policy organization, the Malmfältsdelegation, which besides initiating relief works and special projects also functioned as an employment exchange, an employability assessment center, and a training organizer. 8. Traceability in continuous processes : applied to ore refinement processes
Abstract : Introduction and purpose: Traceability is central for the identification of the root cause(s) behind a product deviation and thus to achieve a product and process quality that is both high and even. Continuous processes contain several characteristics complicating traceability which are not usually discussed in the scientific literature. READ MORE

9. An Investigation of the Iron-Ore Wheel Damages using Vehicle Dynamics Simulation
Abstract : Maintenance cost is one of the important issues in railway heavy haul operations. For the iron-ore company LKAB, these costs are mainly associated with the reprofiling and changing of the wheels of the locomotives and wagons. The main reason for the wheel damages is usually surface initiated rolling contact fatigue (RCF) on the wheels. READ MORE

10. Mineralogical, chemical and textural properties of the Malmberget iron deposit : a process mineralogically characterisation
Abstract : This thesis combine two different but closely connected disciplines in a mining process to each other, ore geology and process mineralogy by studying mineralogical-textural features of the ore and the ore concentrate in an apatite iron ore deposit in Malmberget, Sweden. Apatite iron ore deposits (Kiruna type) exist in a few places around the world and the two most important deposits are mined by LKAB at Kiruna and Malmberget. READ MORE
