21. Tracing pathways in the ocean circulation : A temperature and salinity perspective
Abstract : The ocean circulation plays an essential role in our climate system. It redistributes heat, salt, carbon and other tracers across the globe, making the climate of Earth more moderate. This thesis targets density differences that are driving the ocean circulation. These differences are caused by changes in temperature and salinity. READ MORE

22. Meson Decay with Isospin Breaking At Two Loops
Abstract : In all calculations done in this thesis, the evaluation of higher order quantum corrections has been central. In the first paper included in this thesis we have investigated the effects of finite volume meson propagators for quark-antiquark vacuum expectation value at two-loop level. READ MORE

23. Dynamical aspects of coherent eddies in the North Atlantic Ocean : Insights from Satellite Observations
Abstract : Oceanic mesoscale eddies, often referred to as the “weather of the ocean”, have horizontal scales of O(10) − O(102) kilometers and timescales spanning days to months. These structures comprise a complex system of coherent eddies (meaning they retain their shape and structure over time and space), filaments, and spirals that influence the transport of heat, salt, and nutrients in the ocean. 24. Symmetries and conservation laws
Abstract : Conservation laws play an important role in science. The aim of this thesis is to provide an overview and develop new methods for constructing conservation laws using Lie group theory. The derivation of conservation laws for invariant variational problems is based on Noether’s theorem. READ MORE

25. Atlantic Water in the Nordic Seas : A satellite altimetry perspective on ocean circulation
Abstract : The Atlantic Water in the Nordic Seas contributes to the mild climate of Northern Europe and is the main oceanic source of heat for the Arctic. The northward bound transport of the warm and saline Atlantic Water is mediated by a topographically constrained cyclonic boundary current along the Norwegian continental slope. READ MORE
