1. Controlling Structure and Water Miscibility of Polyion - Surfactant Ion Complex Salts
Abstract : The interaction between poylions and oppositely charged surfactant ions has been investigated. This has been done by using the pure complex salt (polyion + surfactant ion) as a point of departure. Different parameters of the complex salt have been varied in a systematic way and the effect on structure and water miscibility has been investigated. READ MORE

2. Structure formation at solid/liquid interfaces : Understanding self-assembly and environmental challenges
Abstract : The work described in the present dissertation has explored the structure of particles and molecules at solid/liquid interfaces, aiming to understand the physics of self-organizing systems and use this knowledge to address some environmental issues. Surface-sensitive neutron scattering techniques, such as reflectometry and grazing incidence small angle scattering, have been used as the primary tool to investigate structures in proximity to an interface. 3. Ternary Block Copolymer - Water - "Oil" Systems: Effects of "Oil" Type and Block Size on Phase Behaviour and Structure
Abstract : It has recently been established in our group that amphiphilic block copolymers consisting of a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic part can self-assemble in the presence of selective solvents (“water” and “oil”) into a variety of different solution and lyotropic liquid crystalline microstructures. The effects of the “oil” type, hydrophilic block size and hydrophobic block type on the phase behavior and microstructure of ternary isothermal copolymer - oil - water systems have been addressed in this thesis. 4. Equilibrium and Nonequilibrium Properties of Nonionic Surfactant Membranes
Abstract : An extensive investigation of the multilamellar vesicles (La*), lamellar (La), and multiply connected sponge (L3) phase formed in surfactant systems is presented in this thesis. These membrane structures were studied using surfactant systems containing poly(oxyethylene) alkyl ethers, n-CnH2n+1(OCH2CH2) mOH, commonly abbreviated as CnEm. READ MORE

5. Structure and stability of liposomes : Interactions with micelle- forming surfactants
Abstract : The stability of phospholipid lipomes interacting with micelle-forming surfactants was studied under physiological conditions (150 mM NaCl and pH=7.4 unless otherwise stated) mainly by use of cryo-TEM and fluorescence. READ MORE
