11. Spectral signature measurements and image processing for geological remote sensing
Abstract : This work focuses on (i) spectral signatures of rocks and lichens, and on the use of satellite images for (ii) survey mapping of areas dominated by exposed bedrock, (iii) bedrock mapping and mineral prospecting.(i) Laboratory measurements demonstrate that a lichen cover can significantly mask the spectral reflectance of rocks. 13. Remote Sensing and GIS : Applications for Groundwater Potential Assessment in Eritrea
Abstract : An integrated approach with remote sensing, GeographicInformation Systems (GIS) and more traditional fieldworktechniques was adopted to assess the groundwater potential inthe central highlands of Eritrea. Digitally enhanced colorcomposites and panchromatic images of Landsat TM and Spot wereinterpreted to produce thematic maps such as lithology andlineaments. READ MORE

14. Monitoring Water Availability in Northern Inland Waters from Space
Abstract : River deltas and lakes support biodiversity and offer crucial ecosystem services such as freshwater provision, flood control, and fishing. However, climate change and human activities have affected deltas and lakes globally, altering the services they provide. READ MORE

15. Classification of Remotely Sensed Data Utilising the Autocorrelation between Spatio-Temporal Neighbours
Abstract : The subject of this thesis is methods for classifying land using satellite images, and adherent parameter estimation. A satellite image consists of a set of pixels where measurements of spectral intensities are observed. Based on these spectral intensities, each pixel is assigned a class. READ MORE
