  1. 1. Four Proposals for Enterprise Modeling

    Author : Darek Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; change; development; enterprise; modeling process; enterprise modeling language; systems science; constructivist epistemology; organization; modeling; multi-modal modeling; model;

    Abstract : Any enterprise whether a major corporation, a small family-owned business, a public school, a hospital, or a military unit needs to develop itself continuously in order to adapt to the challenges originating within itself and from its environment, in relation to its overall purpose or mission. Deliberate development and management of an enterprise manifest complexity that gives rise to a central challenge: how can we obtain a comprehensive intelligibility of an enterprise? One conceptual tool to overcome this challenge is enterprise modeling; it supports articulation of an enterprise and consequently intelligibility of its complexity. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modeling and Simulation of Physical Systems in a Mechatronic Context

    Author : Carl-Johan Sjöstedt; Martin Törngren; Hans Vangheluwe; KTH; []
    Keywords : mechatronics; MATLAB Simulink; SysML; bond graphs; Modelica; Simscape; simulation; modeling; EAST-ADL2; physical modeling; Mechanical engineering; Maskinteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis gives different views on the modeling and simulation of physical systems, especially together with embedded systems, forming mechatronic systems. The main considered application domain is automotive. READ MORE

  3. 3. Meta-Languages and Semantics for Equation-Based Modeling and Simulation

    Author : David Broman; Peter Fritzson; Jeremy Siek; Thomas Schön; Björn Lisper; Walid Taha; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Meta-language; semantics; EOO; Modelica; equations; modeling; simulation; MKL; Computer science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : Performing computational experiments on mathematical models instead of building and testing physical prototypes can drastically reduce the develop cost for complex systems such as automobiles, aircraft, and powerplants. In the past three decades, a new category of equation-based modeling languages has appeared that is based on acausal and object-oriented modeling principles, enabling good reuse of models. READ MORE

  4. 4. Design and Implementation of Object-Oriented Model Libraries using Modelica

    Author : Hubertus Tummescheit; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; modeling languages; thermo-fluid systems; process modeling; process control; control systems; thermo-hydraulic systems; non-linear models; model library design; object-oriented; modeling; simulation; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes basic models for thermo-fluid systems and the implementation of the models using a flexible object-oriented structure in the ThermoFluid library. Model libraries provide an excellent way to package engineering knowledge of systems to be reused by non-experts. READ MORE

  5. 5. Languages and Tools for Optimization of Large-Scale Systems

    Author : Johan Åkesson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Paper Machine Modeling; Plate Reactor; Languages for Physical Modeling; Compiler Construction; Dynamic Optimization; Modelica; Optimica; Manual Control; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : Modeling and simulation are established techniques for solving design problems in a wide range of engineering disciplines today. Dedicated computer languages, such as Modelica, and efficient software tools are available. In this thesis, an extension of Modelica, Optimica, targeted at dynamic optimization of Modelica models is proposed. READ MORE
