  1. 1. Laminated Veneer Products : Shape Stability and Effect of Enhanced Formability on Bond-Line Strength

    Author : Lars Blomqvist; Jimmy Johansson; Hans Petersson; Dick Sandberg; Peter Niemz; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns two aspects of the manufacture of laminated veneer products (LVPs). The first aspect is related to the possible improvement of the shape stability of LVPs, and the second has its starting point in the modification of the veneer for enhanced formability as well as the question of whether and how these modifications affect the bond-line strength. 2. 2. Shape stability of laminated veneer products

    Author : Lars Blomqvist; Dick Sandberg; Jimmy Johansson; Magdalena Sterley; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; adhesive; beech; birch; bending; laminated veneer products; moulding; shape stability; spring-back; twist; veneer; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis is about the shape stability of laminated veneer products.Laminated veneer products consist of veneers bonded together with adhesive into a predetermined shape. Such products are used in several contexts but especially in furniture manufacture. READ MORE

  3. 3. Organic Phosphorus Compounds in Aquatic Sediments : Analysis, Abundance and Effects

    Author : Joakim Ahlgren; Emil Rydin; Monica Waldebäck; Lars Tranvik; Karin Markides; Sven Blomqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Organic phosphorus; aquatic sediment; eutrophication; NMR; internal loading; sample preparation; extraction; degradation; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Phosphorus (P) is often the limiting nutrient in lacustrine and brackish eco-systems, and enhanced input of P into an aquatic system might therefore negatively impact the environment. Because modern waste water manage-ment have reduced external P input to surface waters, internal P loading from the sediment has become one of the main P sources to aquatic ecosys-tems, in which relatively unknown organic P compounds seem to be more active in P recycling than previously thought. 4. 4. Cardiovascular Side Effects of Radiotherapy in Breast Cancer

    Author : Greger Nilsson; Carl Blomqvist; Lars Holmberg; Anne Hansen Ree; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; Radiotherapy; Cardiovascular; Stroke; Coronary artery stenosis; Coronary artery disease; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : The aim of the thesis was to study cardiovascular side effects of radiotherapy (RT) in breast cancer (BC).In a study base of 25,171 women with BC diagnosed 1970-2000, we found a statistically significant 12% increase of stroke, compared to the stroke incidence in the background population. 5. 5. ICME guided study of mass transport in production and application of cemented carbides

    Author : Armin Salmasi; Henrik Larsson; Lars Höglund; Andreas Blomqvist; Joakim Odqvist; John Ågren; José Garcia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cemented carbides; non-homogeneous structures; liquid phase migration; ICME; CALPHAD; materials design; viscosity; diffusion; mass transport; thermodynamics; kinetics; ab-initio; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Cemented carbides are metallic composites consisting of a WC hard phase and a ductile binder, usually Co-based, produced by powder metallurgy and sintering. Cemented carbides are an essential part of modern material and manufacturing processes. READ MORE
