11. Distributed Control of HVDC Transmission Grids
Abstract : Recent issues such as priority access of renewable resources recommended by European energy directives and increase the electricity trading among countries lead to new requirements on the operation and expansion of transmission grids. Since AC grid expansions are limited by legislative issues and long distance transmission capacity, there is a considerable attention drawn to application of HVDC transmission grids on top of, or in complement to, existing AC power systems. 12. A Theoretical Study of Magnetism in Nanostructured Materials
Abstract : A first-principles linear scaling real-space method for investigating non-collinear magnetic behaviour of nanostructured materials has been developed. With this method, the magnetic structures of small supported transition metal clusters have been examined. READ MORE

13. Bending and Mending the Neurosignature : Elicting the Relaxation Response with help of Flotation-REST ( Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique) in Patients with Stress Related Pain
Abstract : Abstract. The overarching purpose of the current thesis was to assess the long term effects of a documented treatment program involving flotation-REST for the experience of pain, from the point of view of variables connected with Melzack´s neuromatrix theory, and to examine the extent of a potential attention-placebo effect in connection with flotation-REST. 14. Bose-Einstein Condensation of Magnetic Excitons in Semiconductor Quantum Wells
Abstract : In this thesis regimes of quantum degeneracy of electrons and holes in semiconductor quantum wells in a strong magnetic field are studied theoretically. The coherent pairing of electrons and holes results in the formation of Bose-Einstein condensate of magnetic excitons in a single-particle state with wave vector K. READ MORE

15. Modeling and Simulations of Demand Response in Sweden
Abstract : Electric power systems are undergoing a paradigm shift where an increasing number of variable renewable energy resources such as wind and solar power are being introduced to all levels of existing power grids. At the same time consumers are gaining a more active role where self energy production and home automation solutions are no longer uncommon. READ MORE
