  1. 1. Laser Doppler Perfusion Monitoring and Imaging especially as regards testing for sympathetic nerve function

    Author : Carolin Freccero; Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; wavelength; sympathetic vasodilatation; sympathetic vasoconstriction; sympathetic nerve function; parasympathetic nerve function; laser Doppler perfusion imaging; laser Doppler perfusion monitoring; finger skin blood flow; fibre separation; contralateral cooling; Concentration; Fysiologi; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Diagnostik; Diagnostics;

    Abstract : The operating principle of all laser Doppler methods is based on the fact that incident photons shift in wavelength when interacting with moving blood cells passing through the microvascular network. After photodetection and further signal processing, the recorded parameter can be considered an arbitrary measure of tissue blood flow, and this is referred to as ?perfusion?. READ MORE

  2. 2. Evaluation of a Laser Doppler System for Myocardial Perfusion Monitoring

    Author : Carina Fors; Karin Wårdell; Henrik Casimir Ahn; Maria Lindén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser Doppler perfusion monitoring; myocardial microcirculation; coronary artery bypass graft; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery is a common treatment for patients with coronary artery disease. A potential complication of CABG is myocardial ischemia or infarction. In this thesis, a method - based on laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) - for detection of intra- and postoperative ischemia by myocardial perfusion monitoring is evaluated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Movement artifact reduction in laser Doppler blood flowmetry : myocardial perfusion applications

    Author : MG Daniel Karlsson; Karin Wårdell; Knut Kvernebo; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Laser Doppler perfusion monitoring (LDPM) and imaging (LDPI) enable assessment of tissue microvascular perfusion. The techniques are based on the Doppler broadening of the optical spectrum occurring when coherent laser light is scattered by moving red blood cells (RBC). READ MORE

  4. 4. Optical Monitoring of Cerebral Microcirculation

    Author : Peter Rejmstad; Karin Wårdell; Göran Salerud; Neda Haj-Hosseini; Kerstin Ramser; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optical monitoring; cerebral microcirculation; diffuse reflectance spectroswcopy DRS ; laser Doppler flowmetry LDF ;

    Abstract : The cerebral microcirculation consists of a complex network of small blood vessels that support nerve cells with oxygen and nutrition. The blood flow and oxygen delivery in the microcirculatory blood vessels are regulated through mechanisms which may be influenced or impaired by disease or brain damage resulting from conditions such as brain tumors, traumatic brain injury or subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). 5. 5. Single fibre laser Doppler flowmetry for skeletal muscle perfusion measurements : methodological developments and clinical applications

    Author : Hongming Cai; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Measurements of microvascular blood flow in skeletal muscle by using the laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) technique were first reported in 1979. The introduction of the single fibre technique in 1987 increased the possibilities of studying muscle perfusion under various physiological conditions without causing major tissue trauma. READ MORE
