1. Statistical processing of Flash X-ray Imaging of protein complexes
Abstract : Flash X-ray Imaging (FXI) at X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFELs) is a promising technique that permits the investigation of the 3D structure of molecules without the need for crystallization, by diffracting on single individual sample particles. In the past few years, some success has been achieved by using FXI on quite large biological complexes (40 nm-1 μm in diameter size). 2. Investigations of the Kinetics of Reduction and Reduction/Carburization of NiO-WO3 Precursors
Abstract : Kinetic studies of reduction of the mixtures of NiO and WO3 having different Ni/(Ni+W) molar ratios in flowing hydrogen gas were investigated by means of Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Fluidized Bed (FB) technique as well as Thermal diffusivity measurements under isothermal conditions. In the case of TGA, the reaction progress was monitored by mass loss, while evolved gas analysis by a gas chromatograph was the indicator of the reaction progress in the case of FB. READ MORE

3. Thermal Conductivity of Cast Iron: Influences of Microstructure on the Thermal Conductivity of Cast Iron
Abstract : The thermal transport properties of cast iron are important in high temperature applications, where the temperatures should be kept low and the thermal gradients within the componentsmall. Dimensional and microstructural changes, thermally induced stresses and even failuremight be catastrophic consequences of intense and/or unevenly distributed temperatures. READ MORE

4. On the Microstructure and the Thermal Conductivity in Compacted Graphite Iron
Abstract : Compacted graphite iron (CGI) is a cast iron material that has gained much attention due to its attractive material properties which are intermediate between those of grey and ductile cast iron. In the automotive industry compacted graphite iron has become an interesting alternative material to grey cast iron in components like cylinder blocks or cylinder heads. READ MORE

5. Interaction of Ultrashort X-ray Pulses with Material
Abstract : Radiation damage limits the resolution in imaging experiments. Damage is caused by energy deposited into the sample during exposure. Ultrashort and extremely bright X-ray pulses from free-electron lasers (FELs) offer the possibility to outrun key damage processes, and temporarily improve radiation tolerance. READ MORE
