21. Phenomena in wire based multi-layer laser welding and hybrid deposition
Abstract : Several laser materials processing technologies using metal wire addition have been researched during the last decades. Especially in the field of joining, as well as in the field of Additive Manufacturing (AM), multiple major benefits have been reached, e.g. higher welding speeds and lower heat input. READ MORE

22. Phenomena in laser based material deposition
Abstract : This thesis is regarding the use of a laser beam to deposit material. Phenomena in two processes, laser beam welding with filler wire and blown powder directed energy deposition (DED) also known as laser metal deposition (LMD)1, are discussed. READ MORE

23. A study of the fatigue behaviour of laser and hybrid laser welds
Abstract : This licentiate thesis focuses on the fatigue cracking behaviour of laser and hybrid laser-MAG welded structures. Beside the welding process and the resulting weld, several topics related to fatigue of welded structures are treated such as; macro and micro surface geometry, weld defects and their influence on fatigue performance of welded structures, fatigue analysis by the nominal and effective notch stress method, fatigue life prediction using LEFM (Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics), fatigue testing, metallurgical analysis, elastic and elastic-plastic finite element analysis. 24. Additive Manufacturing using Alloy 718 Powder : Influence of Laser Metal Deposition Process Parameters on Microstructural Characteristics
Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) is a general name used for production methodswhich have the capabilities of producing components directly from 3D computeraided design (CAD) data by adding material layer-by-layer until a final component is achieved. Included here are powder bed technologies, laminated object manufacturing and deposition technologies. READ MORE

25. Interaction mechanisms for a laser-induced metallic boiling front
Abstract : This thesis is about fundamental interaction mechanisms of laser remote fusion cutting, RFC, which is based on the formation of a quasi-stationary laser-induced boiling front that causes drop ejection, preferably downwards. Laser cutting of metals, invented in 1967, has developed from a niche to a well established high quality cutting technique in the manufacturing industry. READ MORE
