  1. 1. Quantum computing with naturally trapped sub-nanometre-spaced ions

    Author : Lars Rippe; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laserteknik; Laser technology; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Atomic and molecular physics; akustik; optik; Elektromagnetism; optics; acoustics; Electromagnetism; Fysik; Physics; entanglement; spectroscopy; rare-earth-metal-ion-doped crystals spectral hole-burning; inversion; excitation; laser stabilization; quantum computation; quantum gate;

    Abstract : The main aim of this work, was to lay the foundations for the experimental realisation of a quantum mechanical controlled NOT gate in rare-earth-metal-ion-doped crystals. Small amounts of rare-earth elements, added during the growth of some inorganic crystals, will become substituted into the crystal lattice as trivalent ions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development and Application of Rotational Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy and Laser-induced Fluorescence for Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Christian Brackmann; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser-induced Fluorescence; Formaldehyde; Biofuel; Laser technology; Laserteknik; Energy research; Energiforskning; Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy; Combustion; Laser diagnostics; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Brackmann;

    Abstract : The thesis concerns the development and application of two laser-based methods for combustion diagnostics: dual broadband rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) and laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). In efforts to increase the usefulness of the CARS technique, the applicability of a method involving a combination of the rotational CARS technique and the closely related vibrational CARS technique was investigated. Abstract : Atoms, molecules and clusters all constitute building blocks of macroscopic matter. Therefore, understanding the electronic and geometrical properties of such systems is the key to understanding the properties of solid state objects. READ MORE

  4. 4. Application of Laser Techniques for Combustion Studies

    Author : Marcus Aldén; Fysiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Keywords: Laser-induced fluorescence; Raman Spectroscopy; Coherent anti-Stokes Raman Scattering CARS ; flames; laserspectroscopy; dye laser; lidar; remote sensing; combustion; air pollution; radicals; optical multichannel analyzer.;

    Abstract : The aim for this work has been to increase the applicability of laser spectroscopy techniques for studies of combustion processes, both what regards in-flame experiments, exhaust-gas analysis and remote sensing of the atmosphere. Raman spectroscopy has been used for analysis of exhaust gases from flames, model fires of wood and for inflame measurements. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of Multi-Dimensional Laser Techniques for In-situ Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Jenny Nygren; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser Diagnsotics; Visualisation; Laser technology; Laserteknik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Combustion; Temperature; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Nygren;

    Abstract : Multi-dimensional, laser-based measurements of quantities important for obtaining a better understanding of combustion processes, particularly of temperature and of species distributions, were performed using laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The main purpose of the temperature experiments was to investigate the potential of employing a two-line atomic fluorescence technique (TLAF), using indium as the tracer species, in sooting environments such as in diesel engines.
